ACTA: VP for fighters regenerated through Fleet Carrier

Since you get 1 VP for each fighter flight destroyed, including those launched from a capital ship, how does this affect regeneration through fleet carrier?

If you recover the flight, does the opponent still get 1 VP for "destroying" it? Or does it have to be killed unrecoverably to get the VP?

As far as the wording of the rules goes, the flight if recovered is not actually destroyed, thus it wouldn't give away any victory points.

For ease of math, I usually just calculate victory points on how many fighters he started with, and how many he has left at the end.

I too follow that sort of calculation - it was recovered (not destroyed) and so it's okay. Best bet is to keep a pile of those that are actually killed separate from those waiting to be redeployed.

Even though in my local games I do not use the extra VP for aux craft rule (we use the wing/priority version for extra flights only), I would say that the Fleet Carrier rule would usurp the VP. As that it essentially returns the flight to 'new' status, but does not actually allow the flight to be destroyed per se, I would rule that no additional VPs are gained...thereby making Fleet Carrier a much more prized trait in some tourney games.

Then again, in my tourneys we don't score aux craft like that anyway. :) So, Matt will chime in with his official answer eventually.
