Will try and match up first couple of rounds a mmeber of Gregs Crew marked with (*) to vistors then Swiss Chess format for 3rd and 4th games.

Start same time as Aldershot - 10.30am gives people a chance to get brekkie on the way

Format

10am -10.30am
Sign-in - time to say hi, taunt opponents - make rash statements of victory

10.30am Game 1 (5 pt Skirmish)
Call to Arms - (terrain, no hyperspace), Max 8 ships (10 Drazi)

noon - lunch break

12.30 - 2pm, Game 2 (3 pt Raid, minimum 1 raid ship (or higher PL) )
Rescue - (terrain, no hyperspace), Max 8 ships (10 Drazi)

2.15pm - 3.45pm - Game 3 (2 pt Battle)
Assassination - both players have a target ship - highest PL ship of opponent. (One other ship of their fleet may start in hyperspace, terrain)
Max 8 ships (10 Drazi)

4pm - 5.45pm - Game 4 (3 pt War, must have at least one War(or higher) ship - this ship may not start in hyperspace)
Annihilation (One ship may start in hyperspace, terrain)
Max 10 ships (12 Drazi)
Clarification - your highest level ship must be on the table at the start- ie if you have 1 Armegddon adn 1 War your Armegeddon must start on the table and your War may be in hyperspace. If you have 3 War PL ships, you may sleect one to be in hyperspace

6pm - awards, final taunting and depart

All P+P rules amendments apply with the exception of Centauri Hunting Packs.
Triggy's Beam system in operation

1-2 miss
3-4 hit
5-6 hit and roll again

Fleets and races may be different for each game - just declare at the start of the tourney (and give a list to me).
Likely VP system is the one from Wallsal boys.
Only official ship stats - proxy ships are permissable but make sure oppoents fully aware of what they are at the start. I have a "large" collection of ships let me know if you want to borrow anything.
All ships have CQ 4 modified as normal by fleet rules/ abilities

Looking forward to it

Does that mean you have to plan what will be in each fleet in advance before knowing which fleet your opponent will field? It would be useful to be able to choose your ships knowing whether you're facing Minbari or Dilgar, for example. On the other hand, Shadows don't have much choice of ships, so they can't really tailor their fleet to face specific enemies; choosing all your fleets blind in advance just means nobody else can either. :)

My ruling is that you can choose different fleets for each game but this must be pre-determined and thus not influenced by your opponents fleet on the day.

I think its fairly generous as the scenarios are pre determined and all should be aware that they will have terrain on the tables which helps with ship selection (for those fleets that have this ability).

:D

Yes that is very generous.
Normaly it is one list through the whole tournament for nearly all other wargames.

true - but I think it made the last one quite fun - I got to use three fleets ..........but winning it prob makes me bias.............

Letting players choose their fleets after knowing their opponent race would be irritating to me personally, I normally prefer to select which ships I will use and pack them into a smaller box for transport. Sure I could still do that, but I'd be at a disadvantage. Having to bring a selection, especially a selection of multiple races, would be major hassle for me. Just my 2p worth.

I like having different races for each game though, it mixes things up a bit and keeps it interesting.

Yes, its much simpler for everyone if they pick their race(s) beforehand and then try their best on the day...
If my opponent knew I was taking Minbari or ISA in our next game, the might decide to change their fleet to Gaim. Then, when I see that they've changed to Gaim, I change my choice to a Hull 6 Centauri fleet... upon seeing that, my opponent decides to go for Minbari, so I change to Shadows... and so on and so on... 8)

That suits me, since one of the fleets I'll probably field is Shadows, and as I said they don't have as many options to customise their line-up as some other fleets.

But I have enough ships from other races that I can field other fleets, especially in the earlier games - I'm considering putting a different fleet into each of the four games. :)

Next question: in the Assassination game, what happens if you have two ships at highest priority, e.g. 2 points Battle can each split into a Raid and two Skirmish. Presumably your opponent decides which of them is the target - does he then tell you which ship is the target so you know which one is not allowed to start in hyperspace?

Presumably in the 3 point War game, if you have two ships at War level, one of them must not start in hyperspace but the other one can?

well already know my fleets for the entire day just so I can try and get them painted, if that dont work then counters it is but fleets are sorted from as soon as format was decided :D

Again my ruling is both players declare the assassination target at the start of the game - avoids any issues.
Sounds good to me.

As for Shadows' hyperspace mastery, how about a compromise which doesn't allow them the full ability to have the whole fleet in hyperspace but does preserve some of what is supposed to be one of their main features, given that no other fleet is having its special abilities stripped? Allow Shadows to have up to two ships in hyperspace, still following the rest of the scenario restrictions - the assassination target can't start in hyperspace, neither can the War level ship in game 4, and no ships in hyperspace at all in the first two games.

Fleet choices for the day: I'm seriously considering using a different race or combined fleet for each game. :)

Thats fine - everyone else still able to attend?

One minor thing - I am arranging catering for lunch as the location is not near any eateries - does anyone have any special dietry requirements?
