[A Nomad of the Timestream]

I'm reading the Eternal Champion books as I get time. I'm now reading the A Nomad of the Timestream books. Will there be an Oswald Bastable book or books. The airships in "Warlord of the Air" were so cool!! and I know that many PCs want to get their mits on "The Land Leviathan." That's a testdrive I'd rather be on the next continent for.

The plup/streampunk settings work well with the Runequest system, certainly Call of Cthulhu , Ringworld , and Superworld , each of which used about the same system, worked just fine.

A Multiverse book, covering the likes of Bastable and the League of Temporal Adventurers is a possibilty, but a Bastable book on its own might be a bit difficult.

Agreed! Having read further into "The Land Leviathan" I've made the unpleasant discovery of just how clumsy Moorcock's satire can be. For a book satirising racism, it reads as racist. Lots of brutal Black Bucks, compassion sneered at as a "non-African" ideal, mass murder celebrated as a black power ideal: Moorcock flubbed this one. It's also embarassingly Anti-American and extremely ignorant of American history and culture. It also assumes that absolutely all White Americans were vulgar racist trash deserving of murder. There are no decent, or merely unpleasant White Americans in the book. Topping that, Cicero Hood, a genocidal racist millitarist, is compared to Abraham Lincoln!

Moorcock achieved a satire every bit as vile as the books satirised.

Not trying to bring down MM, but it is a bit silly writing a book in a loved and respected series like the eternal champion that is just a sattire, since so many people find it so ahrd to merely break into the writing business. Heck all bar one publisher turned down Dune before it hit the shelves. I heard that MM wrote a few books that were just for the sake of trying to be clever. IT would be nice if those energies were focused into better material, or revising or adding to older ones. A new story with some established champions would be nice (elric, hawkmoon, corum).

On a slightly but not so distant note I would not like to see such racist references from said book in a RPG suppliment I may buy. I was kind of disgusted by the rape references in the Granbretan source book to be honest, and I am aware that it proabbly happens in the world of Tragic Europe and Londra, the real world and other MM books, but it is not something to be brought into a game. I remember reading the Cranbretan sourcebook and one of the random encounters on a D100 table for Londra is seeing a beast order gang raping a mother while her children watch. WTF?
