A Farewell to Bugs

Rurik

Mongoose
So long to Trifletraxor. We wish you the best (or at least I do).

Though we all may not have your diplomatic touch, or quite the same ability to sugar coat our words, I think you spoke the feelings of many on these boards.

I hope you at least got a warning first.

Have a beer with atgxtg for us!

Banned for how long? (on other less draconian boards 3 weeks seems the norm) Sorry to see you go. Pity we can't ban the employee that was much more ...enthusiastic in his post. One rule for one...

I'd not have banned him, but it's very easy to see that on somewhere like RPGnet - the world's largest RPG forum - he'd have been banned long ago for threadcrapping and being deliberately obtuse. If you consider this place "draconian" I shudder to think how you'd tolerate a much larger forum.

It's considered very poor form on RPGnet to enter a thread and post single-sentence replies over and over again on a topic, simply to express personal annoyance that a game system is used for settings you don't like or have never played. I lost count of the amount of times he'd complain that RQ was being used for anything other than Glorantha, and was posting in yet another thread just to say that and nothing else.

Likewise, there's no "3-week norm" on RPGnet. They have permanent bans there.

Still, I'd not have banned him. And I sincerely hope the employee in the quote above isn't me. If it is, you're welcome to post some examples of where my writing crossed your personal lines and I'll consider amending my behaviour.

Unless it's just criticism for the sake of criticism, of course. But I'm open to being convinced that you're not just saying these things for the sake of it and to fulfil some curious conspiracy theory.

I's boring to find again and again criticisms to a game system which the poster dislikes.

No one thinks seriously about everposting in a tennis forum because you like much more ping pong.

If X dislikes Mongoose RuneQuest game system or Mongoose's publishing way or anything and posts his opinion: that's right. But please, when everybody in the forum has read your opinion, it's boring to find X posting almost always and everywhere the same opinion in different degrees via different arguments in different threads.

Many people here like me don't post usually, but if we come from time to time to this forum is because we like or have interest in many ways for Mongoose RuneQuest.

I like to read about all opinions but please: one time is enough. We (most users) probably understand a criticism the first time we read. We don't need anyone to convince us of how terrible is everything here (read the last phrase as a sarcasm ;-) ).

If you find this post must be replied in anyway, I thank you if you do it free of a beginning-another-long-and-boring-thread attitude.

Apologize for my english, I'm not used to express myself in Shakespeare's language. :?

**APOLOGIES**

I know the thread is about something else but I've just got to say it...

Carrotix - I love your LEGO Glorantha photos. They're inspired! (see his sig).

Sorry. Normal service will now be resumed.

Cheers

Dave

Whoa! No it wasn't you, It was whoever said we will continue to ignore your views over the troll illos in what was a very strong manner, I disagreed in the way the troll thing was persued by some on both sides (Rubblerunner vs Rubblerunner ).

I generally find you post good and enthusiastic (except when you are being a bit paraniod ) .

But I do find the conspiracy thing a bit annoying, cause I don't think Mongoose are out to do anything except make a lot of money, which is what companies do (hence my comment about Hasbro and WW in another thread). You I'm sure have a different agenda (no sarcasm intended).

PS I still think a robot god is scarier than a man machine one... (Clank!)

Crap, dude, I forgot about saying that yesterday. I'm sincerely sorry for flying off the handle and being so snide like that.

I'll post a bit more when I'm not between paragraphs in another window. It's a good bit, so I don't want to take a long/forum break just yet, but I figured I had to say that quickly to iron out my nobbishness.

The post you're thinking of was Ian Belcher ("Mongoose Doghouse"), and I don't think you're the only one who was surprised by its vehemence (though I think I can guess Ian's reasons for wanting to take a strong position on this point, it wasn't very diplomatically put).

I'm sorry to see Trifeltraxor stomped, but it didn't come as a great surprise, really. As one of those scary robot gods (sort of) once said:

And I for one really appreciate DBC's openness here.

Never noticed that 2001 and Red Dwarf had protagonists with the same first name, scary.
"They're dead Dave."

It's one of the reasons my son is called Dave.

For similar reasons, my son is named Maxwell and any daughter will be named Samantha... :D

Bloody hell, you're right.

Do you think that was intentional? It's a hell of a cool coincidence if it wasn't.

Now now guys, this thread is about a fond farewell in memory of Trifletraxor.

I do believe you are all threadcrapping on it.

I'm gonna go with the cover my ass :) on this one.

Holy Cow. I just can't help thinking of the bike forums I frequent, they'd be dead if the banning policy was so strict.

...and yet RPG.net somehow mangages to remain one of the largest boards on the internet.

I think part of that might be due to the moderation policies which are tough but fair.

Voriof - just sayin'

As a frequent poster on rpg.net, honestly, when people get banned there, its usually because they are a complete ass, or have been warned before, and keep being an ass.

No idea about this current situation, but thats been my experience.
