Zombie Survival Guide / World War Z

Both books build a (rather lengthy) backstory, and the ZSG is almost an RPG supplement all by itself already.

World War Z is going to be a movie (someone's snapped up the rights to do a movie, anyway), and this would be an awfully convenient tie-in. Recognizable brand, too.

If this were a miniatures game, I would buy it with out reservation; if this was an RPG with a system that made more sense than ALL FLESH MUST BE EATEN (though I love it), I would force everyone I know to play it.

The best part about this would be how easy it would be to do up a sourcebook with the Runequest rules, or the Spacequest rules, since they'll be similar and more likely to be used for a Dwn of the Dead type game.

I'm telling you, guys - You'd have a bona fide hit on your hands.

Dawn of the Dead is thinking to simplistic - a world that has the Umbrella Corporation in it opens numerous opportunities!

That said, I would buy a Dawn of the Dead Mongoose product. 8)

Also JMS (of B5 fame) is writing the screenplay.

That was one of the reasons why I thought I'd find a copy of the book and see if it was any good. Just over half way through, and it is enthralling reading - and more than a bit disturbing, mainly because it's played straight down the line. Apparently JMS is adding in the character of the interviewer. It'll be interesting to see how it works as a film though, as one of the strengths of the book is the myriad of viewpoints it presents.

There's loads of potential for a modern era rpg game. The Zombie War seems to affect pretty much everything, so a GM has a clean sheet in what he or she can run. A miniatures game might be a bit linear, i.e. the zombie 'army' could almost be played on autopilot, if you know what I mean.

I was thinking it was more of an RPG, myself, though miniatures would certainly be welcome.

The Zombie Survival Guide is a player's handbook without stats. I'd like to see it implemented with the Spacequest rules, especially since the damage model in that system, like Runequest, can be specific and terrible.

Also the character skills and backgrounds are better suited to people thrust into a zombie apocalypse than character classes are.

Please, Mongoose, make this game!
