your finest ACTA moment

In the first Mongoose tourney, my ISA thunderbolts and starfuries surrounded a Veshatan that was rounding an asteroid field to come into the battle. Out of around ten flights, only one beat the stealth and it scored a 6,5 critical (which in those days was 'crew dead'). Two fifths of the enemy strength out of the fight before it fired a shot!

One of my first 2 games of ACTA against Pauly D, playing 5 point Raid before the very first Mongoose ACTA tourney.

My ISA had been wiped out to 3 Nials, which then proceeded to decimate 3 of Pauly's cap ships.

I still lost, but I went down swinging.

Completely crewed a Primus with a Vorlon Lt. Cruiser (tourney stats) in one shot. Against a good friend of mine too - boy was that satisfying.

In the Vassal I online tourney I defeated the 10 Sagittarius fleet with my Shadows. The defining moment was getting my opponent to shoot at the Scout and laughing out loud (behind the relative safety of my computer) that my ships could waltz in whilst the rest of his fleet was reloading.

Oh yeah, the Scout survived the entire salvo too! :D

while learning the game back in 1st edition, I got a 6-6 crit on my friend's Sharlin warcruiser with a sho'kos's medium pulse cannon...gotta love the old days of the insta-kills...

An Omega (Swiftsure) and two Apollos (Repulse and Renown) tag-teaming three Vorlon CL's in as many turns, without any of the squid getting in range to shoot back...

And a White Star shooting a Centauri ship (Altarian?), which blew up, causing two hits on another undamaged Centauri along side...6-6 crit, that one blew up too!

And the sky was full of exploding ships, every one a 6-6 crit.

Had a very 6-6 day one time pre-SFoS. We started a 5 point Battle game, Minbari vs Vorlons (I had just bought the Rules Supplement). 1/2 AD from the Vorlons Lightning gun annihilated a Sharkaan on the second shot of the game (the Minbari lightly damaged a destroyer with the Improved Neutron Laser with the first shot). The other half of the AD completely missed the Morshin due to Stealth.

My opponent surrendered that one, and the Minbari fleet then faced off against EA. Three more 6-6s from an Omega (two as one-hit one kill vs Troligans, one removed a battered Tinashi). A crippled Sharlin nonchantly crippled an undamaged Hyperion with a single volley from its aft laser before escaping through a Morshins Jump Point. Happy days for the EA as all they lost were fighters.

Hmm... I think this thread is turning into a Sharlin bashing one.

Mine has to be winning a game of ACTA once... I remember the day well. It was my Earth Alliance Crusade Era against the Narn Regime 5pts War... got to love those Chronoses.

Shame there hasn't been many like it, oh well

Mine has to be the final battle in a recent campaign we fought, where my Centaurii, outnumbered and outpointed against a combined Narn / Drazi fleet lost 4 raid level or lighter ships and wiped them out - 2 bin taks, 1 war level g'quan, a bunch of battle level ones - the Drazi had 3 battle level ships and a bunch of little nasties. Winning the scouting was crucial as it allowed me to concentrate on the Drazi before rounding on the Narns. Had a couple of Elturian missile cruisers just to take on the Bin Taks - its the critical hits keeping them out of the battle that does it.

A right slaughter - I just love Centaurii.

I'll post this for my son.

He wanted to try Shadows, I was Narn. I had the Bin`Tak. He lit me up with his beam and rolled 18 6's after the initial 5 hits, for a total of 23 hits. Out of those 23 hits he caused 12 Criticals. Out of those 12 criticals he had 10 Vital System hits, which resulted in 6 of those being "6". In that one shot he crippled my ship.

Crippled? As in 'not actually destroyed'!??!?!?!?!?! I knew Bin'Taks were tough but should that have done a base of 69 dmg + any from the crits? Damn those narns build em to last ;)

they certainly do.
After 3 rounds of being shot at by 2, yes 2 SFOS Heavy vorlon cruisers, the Bin'tak, finally removed one cruiser from the field, just as it's last crewman died. The Vorlon offered to retreat, to sweeten the deal, he offered to not kill my bintak, with it's 3 hull points. I was so proud of the ship, It's gone back to homeworld for complete repairs and re-crewing, and will be re-named Vorlon's Bane or somethign suitable

Had another one last night!

Vorlon Light Cruiser with its B/P/SAP/TD Lightning Cannon de-crewed a Omega with its third shot when a 6-5 crit came up!

4d6x3 equaled 63 crew vaporized in an instant! (of course 12 dmg & crew were caused before the crit result was rolled!)

My finest moment was completely out maneuvering Hash's Shadows at the con in Northern Ireland, leaving him no shot, but getting my own guns to bear. He won in the end, but it was a high point of the game for me! 8)

What about your overworked Interceptor crews Digger, they were so good they even managed to intercept my mini-beams!!

I didn't hear the Minbari tactical commander complaining at the time! :D

Mind you, I bet you haven't made that mistake again have you Burger!

 oh yeah...forgot about that, Digger outplayed me really...broken Shadow Hunters and luck won that game for me - nothing else!

Nah - Come off it Hash, you won fair and square! 8)

It was a great game, one of the best I have taken part in.

I'm looking forward to a rematch at some stage, hopefully at Gaelcon if you're going? :)

My WORST ACTA moment was against Pauily_D's dad, at the end of the first turn, due to a tactical error on my part I could not target any vessels with my 5 WS, they were all pointing the wrong way.

As Hash has highlighted one of my more recent high points another thats was great fun was another 4 player game that was somewhat of a general free for all Centauri, EA, Minbari and me playing Brakiri this being pre SofS crits, poor phil with his Minbari steralth that just didnt seem to bother the Brakiri as I was pounding on hime, Adams pesky Centauri with a couple of Octurions was blitzing my left wing, after mauling the Minbari I decided to do a single return shot at the evil Octurion that had been blitzing my Avioki, one shot one 6-5 critical, one drifting Octurion and one frothy mouthed Adam, ahhh those were the days!

Oh and of course not forgetting the Brave Artemis charge on a Shadow ship!!! yup he opened fire with everything and only just managed to skeleton and cripple the brave Artemis whose return salvo dealt a good 50 points of damage and then he fell off the board coz he couldnt stop!! Only ship lost in that engagement

And of cousre there was the now legendary and infamous "Its a trap scenario" Hash *shadows) Adam (centauri) vs Me (EA) Reaverman (EA) and phil (Abbai) mostly a game of how not to manouver an EA fleet as the Abbai Allies got munched due to my EA fleet manouvering away from the abbai completely forgetting that shadows are supermanouverable!! Adam's primus battle line duly mucnhed the fishheads whilst the EA did a huge wheeling manouver that didnt really help, the battle was abandoned due to rain!!! raining fishheads!
