I found the raiders work particularly well if you squadron a few of them for maximum impact but always making sure to keep enough other raiders/scouts seperate to use as initiative sinks (make sure the squadroned ships get to move last so they can line up a nice big attack... OF DOOM!!!!)

One thing to be careful of though: Exploding ships. Drakh GEG's dont block the damage from anything but weapons fire (I believe, still waiting for confirmation in the rulesmasters) and hull 4 ships take quite a bit of damage from explosions. Combine that with the fact that raiders in particular havent got many hit points and can be quite easily overkilled if you pour enough fire into them and the close proximity its easy to end up with when moving lots and lots of swarmy ships and you can easily lose ships in chain reactions :P

But yeah, Im really liking them and am seriously thinking of picking them up as my next fleet (Id like a Narn and Centauri one as I said but no-one I know plays Drakh so that would be more interesting)

Sounds nice; I´ve been looking for a fleet which uses packs of ships, and I now have an image inside my head of a swarm of Raiders...yup, definitely getting the box! :D
The alternative fleet for packs of ships is the Drazi. Warbirds are less powerful, but less fragile, than Raiders. The Drazi have a greater variety of variants than the Drakh, but fewer hull types, and no really big ships at all other than the Stormfalcon (and the Nightfalcon variant), and they're only Barttle.

yep they do play quite similar to each other, the difference is the drakh are a bit more nimble and have fancy tricks. Drazi ships are simply tough :P Both are alot of fun :D

I put down no, not because I don't like the Drakh or their minis (what's wrong with a smooth blended- hull look?) but because I want to see counter support, for them, the Dilgar and the new stuff coming in Armageddon. I'm too busy trying to afford 1/1 scale to do much in the way of minis, and Rich Bax's stuff is a godsend. Most of the time I play with counters, the exceptions being once where I forgot to bring the box and we used folded and labelled strips of paper, and a couple of times where we just converted inches to half centimetres and used a sheet of A4 and pencil and paper plotting, so yes, what I want to see is counters for the new fleets and ships.
You can wolf- pack with most races really, just that some happen to be much better at it than others. Centauri skirmish/patrol swarms are weak, Narn swarms are utterly devastating but clumsy, Torotha groups are the only Minbari unit you don't have to take seriously, EA are nimble and lethal but fragile, etc. With Drazi, I'm not sure there's an alternative.

Yes, that would be nice, too, but I´m afraid I won´t be able to do that: Me and one guy from my gaming group divided the League fleets evenly between us, to keep things interesting and diverse. He got the Drazi and Vree (and the Gaim, should they ever be released), and I got the Abbai and the Brakiri (as well as Pak´Ma´Ra, if there will ever be a fleet list for them), and I´m pretty happy with those.

Other things I´ve been thinking about were White Star Swarms, Vorchan/Demos packs, and EA fleets consisting only of Omegas and their variants (well, that wouldn´t really count as a pack as such, but those were my choices anyway... ); but then I´ve chosen the Drakh because of their storyline in the series...

Interesting. It only seems reasonable and logical (and fun!) to me that everyone gets to play every fleet available, even if they have to borrow minis. It only helps understand the fleets, as well as giving everyone a bit of variety. I don't see the diversity if only one player gets any one given fleet...

Well, I guess it´s kind of a "staying in character" thing, with the players being identified with their respective fleet. AND it mainly concernes collecting the miniatures; since there´s noone among us who can afford all the fleets, we talked about not collecting too many of the same fleet to keep things a little different (well, tell THAT our EA players... ).

You´re right of course concerning the "play the fleets to know the fleets" part, and we actually do switch fleets in one-off games occasionally (that´s what I love about the counters, you can try and play what you want, when you want to).

We will finally go back to our own fleets for our coming campaign (which we will finaly start as soon as Armageddon comes out), though, but that again mainly for "in character" reasons. And since I´m most likely to GM that campaign, I already have a nice little idea for a NPC-bad guy fleet harassing everyone else (going back to the topic)...

By the end of the series, Londo was in charge and te Drakh had been booted off Centauri Prime, hadn't they? :?

By circa 2281 yes, but that's well outside the normal series timeframe, only flash forwards and the final ep get there or close.

In the 2270s Vir had organised a degree of resistance against the Drakh and I guess at least skirmish/raid scale games would happen every so often!

No, I wouldn't buy them. I hate the look of the carrier and the mother ship. The carrier looks like a distorted carrot and the color schemes are horrendous.

there is more chance of me playing Star Fleet Battles (i`m talking hell freezing over here) than putting forth money for the Drakh.
