Will we ever see a Character Generator like the HeroLab generator, for Traveller. Comprehensive, adventure tracker, all the supplements?

HeroLab from Lone Wolf has D&D4, White Wolf, Pathfinder, Mutantss & Masterminds, and others. Well worth the 25.00 bucks

I'd settle for a small craft------->Capital ship Gen.

What's your point? Ships are scenery or a setting. Most Trav SF scenarios don't bother with the ship details so long as the ship get them there.

I don't know - we have a quite successful 'These Are The Voyages' style High Guard campaign - with the 'Opposition' table generating a total displacement for the opposition, something that can generate a quick force list would be good, as ship combat is a big part of the campaign

My point? To have a ship generator.

I did some preliminary work on this a while back. The main problem is that the game uses essentily three different ship design systems. The small craft and standard systems are highly compatible, but capital ships use a very different system. In particular the hull sections mechanic is a major stumbling block.

I'm currently working on a mapping application.

I don't think we will see anything that is "legal" since the SRD specifically excludes software. However, if someone had one and wanted to publish it, they could get with Matt and work something out.

Computerised chargen? Nah, I like the handful of dice, the initial character idea which is then reassembled, sometimes into a very different character, the opportunities to think about character links etc as the outlines of previous experience begin to appear. I am probably a bit old school. Pushing a button just isn't the same.

Computerised (spreadsheet?) aid in toting up all the numbers when ship designing, that I can see as useful, even if a different set up needed for capital ships. Perhaps something for (a personal bugbear) Vehicles as well?

Yah, I don't think it would be problem to sell via Mongoose. You'd want to do that anyway to get customers.
