Whitestar Fighter broken?

I play ISA and I admit that the whitestar fleet is powerful in SFOS but seeing a possiable broken aspect of whitestar fighter with its ability to open jump points. It is possiable with several whitestar fighters from a whitestar carrier to jump point bomb people and given that now fighters can shoot first that means you can drop a whole lot of jump points equalling 8 AD, x3 dmg and AP at a 6 inch range vs their normal 2 inch guns that will get in next turn to slag the remaining ships.


on a side note.

Is it me or I see that the Whitestar carrier is basically a force multiplyer. The Amount of whitestar fighters is about a war points worth effectively making it a good buy.
 
No. I dont beleive this worry is accurate. A carrier can only start with 1 or so fighters in jumpspace already deployed so having 8 fighters JP bomb is not a possiblity. I'believe the WS fighter JP is only intended for the Aux Flights that are purchased seperately, not the organic fighter support from the Carrier.

As for the side note, yes the WS carriers a steal frankly with 8 WS fighters already onboard. Its like a whole free WS cause 8 fighters equals a War Point by themselves.
 
However.....the ability to open a jump point for a skirmish priority point - and then have a victory class come through on Concentrate All Fire!(hey - it's not his jump engines, is it) will hurt like hell.

And yes, the carrier is even better value than the morshin....scary, eh?
 
Firstly, the White Star Carrier is a very good choice in general.

Secondly, the White Star fighters are probably underpowered for one per Skirmish point, IMO it should be two.

Thirdly, although the WS Fighter has AJP, it can't perform the special action Initiate Jump Point. This means it can't open a jump point. The purpose for it having AJP is so that it can shoot and perform special actions when it come out from hyperspace. Sorry, no jump point bombs for you.
 
are you SURE there Triggy? Sounds to me like they should be able to jump in/out on their own much like shadow fighters can. Its just something that hasnt been covered by fighter special actions very clearly thusfar.

Yes the WSF is the best fighter ever!!!!

But its no jump point bombs, and it only has dodge 4+. You can really shoot it woith long range weapons a bit. 2 hits and a 75% chance to kill it.
 
It may be the best fighter 1 vs 1, yeah. But in terms of FAP, there are much better!

For your 1 Skirmish pint, you can get:
- 2 Wings of Raziks. I'd like to see a WS Fighter dogfight its way out of a +10 dogfight score. Even Ranger training won't help much against that.
- 2 Wings of Thunderbolts. I'd like to see a WS Fighter outdamage 12AD AP+12AD, and up to 4" range.
- 2 Wings of Sky Serpent. Again, 16AD AP and 16AD TL.
- 2 Wings of Frazi. 24AD.
- 2 Wings of Delta-V. +11 Dogfight score against 1 WS Fighter.

So yes it is the best fighter, but its actually one of the worst value for points.
 
it's a free point and a bit at war now isn't it? The new PL system in Armageddon has 6 skirmish ships for a point.But then the morshin comes in at quite tasty too if you are pointing out the carrier capacity.
 
the WS fighter looks prety powerfull when combined with the WS carier, but i can't imagin ever taking one as a seperat ship.

it doesn't have that much more firepower than 2 flights of Nails, and is WAY less likely to survive any sort of non-digfight engagment. i mean with no stealth and only a 4+ dodge, it's the mot fragile skermish point i've ever seen. sure AJP is prety cool but it needs a capitle ship dedicated to opening the vortex anyway so how fesable is it really to use that capability?

personally i think that if the WS fighetr appears to be over used it's an issue with the carier rather than the fighter itself.
