I have a pretty decent collection of Japanese, German and US ships (mostly GHQ models) that I bought from a fellow gamer about 15 years ago. Played a few games using General Quarters way back when, but they've been in storage for a long time. Victory at Sea will give me a reason to dig them out and play with them again.

The best part is, they are already painted! :D

Yeah Scotty59 (and Lowly Uhlan too), me too. I've got hundreds of USN and IJN in both 1/1200 and 1/2400. Some of them I've made myself, such as the IJN 1916 8/8 plan of 8 BBs and 8 BCs in 1/2400 (some of which visited Pearl Harbor as cariers). The US response (authorized 1918) was an earlier South Dakota class armed with 12 16"/50 guns (!). There were going to be six of these monsters, along with six of the Lexington class BCs (actually designated as CC-1 to CC-6) armed with 8 16"/50 guns. Lexington and Saratoga became CV-2 and CV-3 respectively. Each side was building 16 new ships apiece, and the only ones out of 32 ships that were completed as intended was the Colorado class of 4 smaller BBs (actually 3 because the BB-47 Washington was sunk as a target while being finished to 76% completion). The treaty that killed her was also named Washington, although that was named the after the Capital and not the State. It was an arms race to be sure. Now you guys know why I call myself BuShips  .

USN and IJN are my major fleets. I think I'll pickup a few British and German ships just to do some Bismarck scenarios.

well i realy like the idea of this game, and if a soviet fleet is available in the list il definatly get it
There's no Soviets in the basic game, but a full fleet list is in development for S&P.

I don't believe the Potempkin is amongst them, but who knows...

Some North Atlantic Wolfpack action would be fun. I really grooved on the Silent Hunter PC games and my family is German

Yeah, you can run Das Boot in the background for inspiration. Come to think of it, nah. Good movie though, I dug it out the other day (Director's long cut, lol) and I've been breaking it up over three days. Great fun, but I just wish I could appreciate it in the full-up German language mode without the English subtitles, heh.

I thought it was the BuShips from the Honor Harrinton books.

That too  . I just knew of the term from the same source as where David Weber learned of it: US Naval history. So you could say it is David Weber's Honor Harrington, albeit second hand  . I have all of his HH series.

The Russian fleet and air lists are just about done. No Potemkin in the lists I'm afraid as she was turned into razor blades in the 1920s.

Plenty of Russki aircraft carriers based on their proposed 1930s and 1940s designs :)

Hmm, unfortunately "All of them" wasn't an option so I declined to vote (just finishing my Brazilian, Chilean and Argentinean fleets :) )

I voted Royal Navy though I already have 1/6000 RN, IJN, RNN (all of it!), Kriegsmarine and Italian fleets....

Personally I am looking forward to messing around in the Med...

You might be as appalled as I was to hear that originally the book would include the French, but no Italians, to save space...
