I usually play my EA at the moment, I like my Mibari the most but the stealth thing just gets on too many peoples nerves so they dont come out that often. My real favourite race from the show and in ships is the Vorlons but I just havent used them much yet (though I do think theyre playable now with their tourney list and even better soon in armageddon (I hope :p)
Rather like Shadows, their tournament use may well be restricted by level, however...

Hi,

My first fleet is the Vorlons and the Second is EA. I now mostly play with EA for it's diversity (and warlock) + I'm waiting on Armageddon before I dust of my Vorlons again.
Normally I'm not inclined to start a new fleet annytime soon. But with the Ka'Bin-Tak on the way, who knows? And altough I like the tought of the Adeira-class i don't fancy the Centauri, but if I could be persuaded it would be with that little ship....

Who Knows What the future brings, now the Vorlons are gone???

:?

I started off with Earth Alliance and Minbari fleets (Minbari War era) and have just recently got a Brakiri fleet finished (whenever my Brokados arrives that is)

Earth Alliance for me too, mostly due to the huge variety of the ships...I can always pick a competitive fleet no matter who I play. Lotsa of choice allows me tailor my fleet for different opponent, or even just depending on what mood I'm in

I have a Narn fleet too and am going to treat myself to the Centauri box set for my birthday 8) .....hooray for people who say "Wasn't sure what to get you, so here's cash."

Of course, the wife bought me a couple of new shirts and whatnots...sheesh...more training needed there I think

Being a xenophobic Earthling, I of course, play Earth Force... sometimes I'm a Clarkist Earth First Loyalist when playing other Sissy Peace-loving Humans.

My only exception to this is my Brakiri Fleet, because, I too, am a Corporate Pirate sailing upon the High Seas of International Finance.

"And so, heartened by their initial success, the desperate and reasonably violent men of the Brakiri Sydracracy battled on... until, as the sun set slowly in the west, the outstanding return on their bold business venture became apparent: the once-proud financial giants lay in ruins, their assets stripped, their policies in tatters."

Ive started with Abbai, which soon turned into an Abbai/Brakiri mix.

Then I had the opportunity to buy an old B5Wars Minbari fleet, and as there was no Minbari player in my gaming group, I started to play them regularly - and as I´ve always liked them in the series, it´s been mostly Minbos for me ever since (I´m looking forward to Armageddon, when Stealth will be brought to a level at which I can bring my opponents into playing my fleet again).

However, I´ve somehow fallen in love with the Drakh (also a pretty cool feature from the show), and I will order my fleet box (and a few other ships) as soon as my fleetbook and RPG sourcebook arrive.

Oh, and just yesterday, I made a deal with a friend of mine to buy his EA fleet box, so I will eventually bring that to (at least campaign-) strength, too...

EDIT: BTW, does anybody see my Avatar? Seems not to work at the moment, but maybe that´s just my system´s fault somehow...

I'll try out most fleets- one of the benefits of being a Cardboard Cosmic Crusader (counters, in other words), but I've found myself staying mainly with Centauri and Dilgar; 'bad guys' both, apparently.

Used to be EA, now slowly going the Centauri way (Adira yumyum), but most of the time I use the ISA due to easy to transport etc... when going 'out' of the local club.

While EA is by far my favorite I do like to switch out and play other fleets on occaison. This is easy for me as I have all of the fleets except the new Drakh(its just a matter of time). I am looking forward to Armageddon to see the Shadow/Vorlon and fighter fixs but not the break up of the EA fleet list.

I seldom play the Drazi in this system. While I can understand the forward firering weapons I think that they have too many boresighted weapons.

Agreed. They need something at raid level like a trimmed down stormfalcon with out the boresighted weapons and less damage/crew.

My biggest complaint is they have weapons like partile blasters and repeaters that are only twin linked but are boresighted. It just looks like they picked the fireing arcs out of a hat. You find the same weapons are boresighted on one hull and forward on another. Being limited to just forward fireing weapons is a big enough limit. Why make it worse by having most of them boresighted as well???

There's no problem at all using Drazi ships once you have the tactics learned. The weapons they mount are bigger and heavier than the hulls should be able to carry, and therefore are limited in their arcs. As for why only forward-firing arcs? Why would you be showing your back to your enemy? Are you cowards?

The drazi can be challenging. I find they often do great or go down in flames hardly damaging anything. One tactic I've seen work more than a few times is to stagger an attack run. Rather than send everything in at once send in one wave of ships with a second wave a bit behind it, and maybe a third behind that. That way any ships that survive the initial assault and get behind the first wave line themselves right up for the second.

Another tactic that looked cool and worked (but haven't seen it used much) is a Cantiberian Circle idea. Keep circling your fleet around itself, each turn a different ship is in position and can fire, then breaks off and turns around.

Glad you all seem to like the poll.
I might put up another poll after this one has had about a week to get more results. I'd be interested to see if people play mainly campaign or one offs or tourneys, but I'll leave that for next week.

In response to an earlier post, I play with the counters rather than mini's aswell. I like the flexibility of playing any ship of any race at any time, rather than have to spend a hundred or two dollars on one race. That being said I do tend to have my favourites (EA and Centauri), but I like being able to surprise them anytime I want. I love that mongoose has counters for ACTA, I always hated Games Workshop for insisting that you had to have the exat right miniature for every unit you fielded. You could probably equip a real army for less than it cost to keep up with Warhammer.

In response to another post. I like the Dilgar too, its a pity there I couldn't fit all races onto poll, most people seem to use the more common races though (especially EA) so I don't think I need to put up a second poll for other races yet. I am fascinated by the Dilgar though and hopefully will be able to get a copy soon. I am constantly amazed at how many people are so interested in a race that was in one episode and they were extinct in that episode except for one person. Its ironic that a race that was barely in the show really set the stage for alot of races in B5 and had a big impact on the show's pre history.

Ive Played 5 Games so far, and have coverd all but one froup that im interested in. So far i Love the Vree, in fact i just ordered my first ships last night. I'm thinking I may try the shadows as a second fleet after i get the Vree all set up.

Shadows play quite similar to vree in many ways (you must use the whole SM thing to avoid enemy fire) though with shadows you can get away with it a bit more as your ships are pretty tough (well the tourney list anyway, the SFoS versions I still felt were a bit weak)

If you want to try something the exact OPPOSITE of the Vree though try the Narns or Vorlons :p
