What's the deal folks?

Lone Wolf: Magnamund Mega-Deal

Author: Joe Dever
Series: Lone Wolf

Price: $599.00
Format: Hardback (10 pages)???
Distributor on sale date: 31st July 2007

Ten pages for three hundred quid? I hope that's just a typo.

So, you think you are a Lone Wolf fan? Well, we have something special here for you.

By taking on the Magnamund Mega-Deal, you need never miss out on the adventures of the last Kai Lord, Lone Wolf. The Collector's Editions of the original gamebooks are completely revised, with new artwork, story lines and adventures, all printed on high quality paper and encased in a resilient hardcover for maximum durability. Each will be sent to your door as they become available, with Book One: Flight From the Dark released on July 31st, and subsequent books following 6-8 weeks later.

But that is not all. The Magnumund Mega-Deal also entitles you to the following;

* Your shipping/postage will immediatly be refunded.
* You will receive Collector's Editions of the new Lone Wolf novels, absolutely free, as they are released. The first are due in October this year, starting with the Agarashi and Lencian Trilogies.
* You will also receive the final gamebooks of the Lone Wolf series, the never before released numbers 29-32, as Collector's Editions, at least four months before the standard versions appear in stores.

So, join Lone Wolf in the front ranks in the battle against evil, and defend Magnamund from the cruel intentions of the Dark Lords!

It's a bit ambiguous but I hope that means the hardback editions (not the paperback ones). So that's 300 quid for 32 hardback gamebooks and the novels, right?

32 books plus some novels come to a mere ten pages in total? What's this, the condensed pocket version or something? :p

the programme seems to need a page count to work seem to remember a subscription to signs had a odd count too.also if we do subscribe do we get the sword freebie or was thet idea scrapped?

Matt, You need to do some more error catching.
The book Fire on the Water reads Lone Wolf 1 again. Shouldn't that be Lone Wolf 2?

I rad it as a bad sign, that there is no mention of a new Lone Wolf RPG at all :(
You haven't dropped that idea as well as the sommerswerd, have you?

As for the replica Sommerswerd, we still don't have a final answer on this. We've looked at lots of different manufacturers and obviously this will all come down to costs. Whatever happens, we will be offering the novels (all 6) as bonus gifts for those subscribing to the mega-deal.

Cheers

Fordy

Let's hope that means something. I was actualy wondering how we'd prove we bought the whole series, I mean, coupons and tokens in the back of every book or something? :p

Anyway, putting out some 600 $ on the spot is by all means way out of my league. So I'll get myself the books one by one...as money permits.

Actually it's even more if you consider shipping costs to Europe!

When I tried to preorder it said the total cost is $721,80! That's a whopping EUR 536,87!

Not a problem according to the website:

I wonder, what will hapen to the deal when the first book is shipped. Will there still be a mega deal, only altered to take effect at the next books release, at a lower price, or will the deal be shelved. Ie: if you don't preorder before the end of july, you're going to have to buy them seperately?

Well, I'm definitely up for this, on the proviso that we get a sommerswerd replica.

Has there been any word in this?

I'll definitely be getting it if, and only if, the sword comes with it.

Will we know about this before the first one is released?

EDIT: are all the books in the mega deal going to be hardbacks, or just the first?

This has proved impossible, I am afraid - sadly, we have not been able to replicate the Sommerswerd with any decent level of quality that we would wish to pass on to you.

Oh, that's a real shame. Ever since I was 9 I've wanted to run around swinging the sommerswerd :(

Still, can't wait for the re-release! These are going to rock so hard they are going to METAL!

I might still get the mega deal if the whole set is in hard back...

I hear you :)

This may be something we can revisit in the future but, for now, we have to shelve it.

It is indeed, as are the free collector's novels you get with it!

Well, looks like I'm in for it then! 8)

Is Joe rewritting all of the books, or just the first ones? I can understand wanting to go back and improve work that's, what? 24 years old considering they were the first he'd done.

The later books were naturally improved...

Still, wouldn't be too disappointed if he decided to improve them all :P

I haven't been this psyched for something for ages - Lone Wolf was pretty much THE series that introduced me to Fantasy. I'm happy that Joe has been able to get them republished, such a nice guy (Project Aon is a testament to that) he deserved to have his story told again and finally finished.

Kudos to you all for taking on the challenge, and supporting such a fantastic setting.

Joe has completely re-written the first book, and is writing the last four from scratch. The others will have updated bits and pieces from other authors, but nothing will be allowed to detract from the Deverishness of the series, and everything is being approved by The Man himself.

Interesting and if Joe is giving new elements a grilling then I'm all for building upon the work done in the original books. Personally I am happy to see some modification. I have most of the originals and getting the same thing again seems a bit pointless. But a revised copy, new art some new sections and hopefully a few gaming suprises, make the purchase much more worth while for me at least.

If I want to read the originals there is nothing stopping me.

Ok, so book 1 will now have 550 sections if I understand correctly, but what about the other books? Will he keep the magical number of 350 sections (400 for book 5) in each books (not counting the extra adventures), or will he add more sections (say, 50 more sections/book)? Of course, I guess that book 28 will received the 50 sections that had been cut out in the original release, but will the other ones get more sections too?
