What is up with Mongoose's shipping costs?

Mongoose
I went to order a Fleet box, and it charged me $13, which is pretty high on a lightweight item only going one state over (shipped from Ohio I believe, to PA). I then remembered that I needed to order a replacement D6 for a bad one from my initial squadron box, added it, and now shipping is $18! Bad enough I needed a replacement D6, but to have to eat $20 to get it? No thanks.

I'm guessing their software uses a default shipping cost regardless of where the package goes, but an additional $5 to add a blisterpacked mini to the order?

I second this. Shipping seems a little out of whack. Purchased a Light Cruiser and a frigate pack from them and it cost 9.00$. You could put the two in a envelope and mail it for as much as they weigh! (not really) Nine bucks seems a little steep for that.

Billco,

I believe Mongoose is replacing figures with quality control concerns, you may want to contact them on the D6 before re-ordering.

Based upon my previous experience with them taking 3 emails and nearly a month to get a replacement...I'll pass. I shouldn't have to babysit and nag to get a replacement.

The D6's engine and pylon didn't cure properly; they were really soft when they arrived; you could twist the engine this way and that. I put it aside, figuring to use the ship as a derelict. Then I decided to see if I could assemble it anyways. It apparently cured a little more and became brittle and the entire wing broke in half and fell off the engine. :(

I've glued the pieces together, reattached to the D6 hull, but it still is somewhat flexible and droopy. I'll make it work, rather than spending $20 on a new replacement or riding herd on Customer Service. :?

more fail from Mongoose we should call them failgoose from now on.
You know, when I found Star Wars: The Old Republic to be a huge disappointment, I just unsubscribed and stopped playing, but then I guess that's because I'm bitter and "burnt out" ;)

Then again whenever I have had need to contact their customer service have had very fast, very generous service...

Yes, me too. Friendly, and happy to do what is required to make it right. Kelly George has been wonderful, and if there a place to provide positive customer feedback about a Mongoose employee, I would certainly provide it (although I know Matt will probably see this post).

My first rule book never got mailed, sent an e-mail and had it two days later. 8) I know he has assisted my wife with other service issues as well!

I know when I get my 4 fleet boxes, and 10 singles, and If I have a quality issue, I am confident it will be handled quickly and to my satisfaction. Now if I only had them. I feel like the lady on the old Myrvn's Commercials waiting for the store to open for a sale, tapping the window saying Open,Open,Open...

I wonder why it took so long then, when I was dealing with Matt himself, not some nameless person in Customer Service? He was all friendly and agreeable, but I had to keep nagging him. I know he must have been hair-pullingly busy, so I'm surprised my issue didn't get passed along to Customer Service so they could get things resolved.

Anyways, can we get the discussion back on track about the high shipping cost? :?

$36 to ship my initial order to Canada. I almost didn't order, but the promise of a Federation Command Cruiser hooked me.

Anyway, the book came first. Three squadron boxes second. My cloaked Romulans will wait until they are produced. And they are sending replacements for the poorly molded ships I got in my squadron boxes.

So, no wonder the shipping costs are so high. At least 4 shipments for one order. ;-)

Hmm. There should be some sort of maximum cap on the shipping. At least there was when I ordered from last time though system was bugging but the customer service paid back extra fast.

IIRC it was 15£ cap to Finland.

I think using those weird shipping boxes that amazon uses might put the cost up compared to good old padded envelopes, but on the other hand you don't get dented books or boxes.

I recently tried ordering a $5.99 blister pack from a different mini's company in the states and was quoted $38.50 postage to the UK. It has not been uncommon for American companies to charge this sort of amount (or more!) for postage - thank heavens for the smaller companies that charge a realistic amount, lol!

I think one of the problems may be the main shipping/delivery companies that charge a huge amount for their services.

Company policy - if you order multiple items, we won't hold the shipment back if some are not ready. We always ship as things become available, so you get your goodies as quickly as possible.
