What Have You Painted Today??

My S&S order arrived, so my poor old Russians are back in the "to do" box :)
The first of my PLA Light Mech Squads (S&S)

USMC Platoon Command (Liberation) plus their wheels (S&S)

And my aforementioned 1/144 Hornets (ridiculously detailed Dragon kits - even the decal sheet has more detail than most 1/72 scale ones  )

The "What Have You Painted Today?" thread is probably not the best place to ask this question, if this gaming forum is even the proper place to ask it. Me thinks we have a spamer here. First post of a recently registered user which is completely off topic? Hmmmmmm...

Not exactly painted; it's cut out, printed and stuck together. The latest addition to the paper fleet is the Nova dreadnought.

The model itself is available here. (Actually two models, you get both the Schwarzkopf and the Patton.)

Just finished 24 morannon orcs, 3 orc captains, and a witch king on foot. And my camera's battery is flat, drat it. :?

Vwery nicely done.

Logo is great.

What green did you use, (need to get around to painting some of my own fleet sometime soon). Leaning towards some of the Valio wwII greens but still to make my mind up.

Your colour is spot on for Brakiri.

I used SAC Blue/Green FS14159, specifically Xtracolor X118. However, I got that years ago for something else and I'm not sure if it's available for sale now.

Nice job.

For the original B5 series, Vallejo Medium Olive is the closest base colour IMO (straight out of the bottle anyway). The later films seem to have them more of a field grey colour like Adrian's (Revell Grey-Green is pretty similar).

All screen shots I've been able to find on the Internet, including a couple of snapshots I took from Youtube videos of "Babylon 5" clips, seem to match the colour I used fairly well. Unfortunately, that photo doesn't; the ship appears a little too grey there.

Incidentally, the model has a raised panel with engraving to try to make the insignia easier to paint. Unfortunately it's back to front, looking more like a "G" than an "a". The Brakiri font (among others) can be found here:

The insignia is simply the Brakiri "A".

thanks for the paint info guys. (& font data)

As an aside wondered what you were talking about re the grey rather than green then remembered I was using my phone when I saw the original posted pic. On checking, sure enough greenish on the phone, greyish on my desk top.

isn't technology wonderful.

I'm trying to steer clear of their site too, I'm tempted to get a Vorlon fleet while I still can since you don't need that many ships, and perhaps a Babylon 5 station too (see, I'm adding things to the list already :P  )

One of the best looking Brikiri fleets I have seen. Great stuff Iain.

On IWM - Go on, you know you want to.

Just had to pay an extra £12 import on my second last IWM order, (fortunately valued low), which arrived last week. First time this year, on say 12 US orders so far.

I just love Scotland.

On IWM Vorlons, I also picked up some FA scale, (& Shadows) for use as frigate proxies.

I do like the style of the Brakiri ships, especially when they're painted as well as that.

Now you tell me you're ordering from Iron Winds! I'd been hoping to do a joint order to cut down on the postage, gave up on finding anyone near me wanting to order stuff, and put in my own order anyway. When it arrives, my Earth fleet is going to get some reinforcements and the Army of Light will get another Drazi contingent.
