What fleet should i play

Poolitzer

Mongoose
Hi,

i will now start ACTA 2nd Edition but i'am not sure with which fleet.

My first Choise is Centrauri, because i like the Design, have good fighters, good hardhitting Mainbatterys and good sideweapons.

2nd Choise is Earth Crusade Era, because the models are perfect beautyful for me and i can "upgrade" to Psi Corps which interessts me too.

3. Psi Corps sounds interessting but have limited Fleet choices .

so can you give me a short overfew over the advantages / disadvantages of the 3 fractions ?

If you're interested in both Crusade EA and Psi Corps it'd make sense to buy the Crusade EA stuff first. Get a decent fleet together then add a few Psi Corps units here and there as time goes on to get your Psi Corps fleet going alongside it.

Of course, as a loyal Centauri, I would object to that very strongly. You should join the great Republic and help take our people back to the stars...

Centauri can be a lot easier to play. They do not have boresights like the EA and Psi Corps. They have lots of ships to chose from at all priority levels, while Crusade EA have ships weighted towards the top end of the priority scale.

Except for war and armaggeddon, of course. EA has greater choice at war and crusade EA gets the same level of choice. Arguably better units at these levels, too.

I would say for you to play centauri since i started collecting them to :P, but in the end no one can make the choice for you. I would do a modal rep for a few games for each fleets and See how you feel and handle them in battle.

I cant really give any advice for any fleets having just started ActAs last week or 2 and Getting my first taste of the game tonight were going to play the small ambush mission with the hyperion and 2 vorchans :D.

Good luck on your choice and if you can buy or download the counters and use them for a while it will save you buckets of money until you decide on the right fleet for you!

good hunting Poolitzer i guess :P.

EA Crusade Era all the way my friend. Load up on Chronos'

Yeah, load up on chronos, they go with a lovely reassuring "POP", when you whack em with double damage, precise beams. Just like microwave popcorn actually!lol

Oh don't worry andy; you'll find out soon enough.

got another Question, why the hell is the Centauri Amaggedon ship the Adira so damn expensive compaired with the other Amaggeddon ships ?

30 pound for the adira to 15 pound for every other amaggeddon ship.

Is it so huge? i cant imagine that its bigger than a victory class and she is almost big in real.

Indeed its the only ship which costs 30 pound. Is it really bigger than the Drahk mothership ? which seems to be very big.

ok, i think earth i wouldn't play cause there are so many EA players and in my TT-Round are 2 on Crusade era.

Can anyone tell me something about the Dilgar, can you play on tournaments

and what are there weakness and advantages ?

You can play tournaments with any fleet, unless the organiser specifically forbids them. That's on a case-by-case basis.

Dilgar are an interesting fleet. You have two distinct "styles," the slow and heavy style using the assault ships and dreadnoughts, and the fast style, using most of the other classes. Either way, Dilgar are characterised by having no beam weapons but large numbers of attack dice for their pulsing weapons, backed up by slow-loading, long-range missiles. Your fighters are decent if not brilliant dogfighters with solid anti-ship firepower, and you also have an excellent anti-ship bomber with perhaps the longest range of any fighter-borne weapon.

Dilgar in the fast style excel at rapid, slashing attacks, especially if you can flank your opponent or use jump points to ambush them. Concentrate your missiles on a single ship if you can, especially if the opponent has interceptors. Once you close in, select one or two targets and concentrate as much firepower as you can on them, destroy them and move on.

In the slower style, advance at a steady pace, firing your missiles at a single target until it's destroyed then switch to another. Use any opportunity to fire your mass drivers or board an enemy ship, as your assault ships are loaded down with Dilgar marines and heavy weapons.

Make sure you post photos of your fleet when you buy and paint them, we always like to see people's work, and let us know if there's anything else we can tell you.

I don't have a Dilgar fleet myself, but I play against them regularly.

They have two main elements to their fleet, fast and hard hitting but fragile, and slow and pnderous but tough as old boots.

Their strongest priority levels are Raid and Battle, their weakest is probably Skirmish. Their War level ships hit HARD, but die very quickly.

Very good/useful ships:-

Omelos (range 15 bolters and Agile)
Tikrit (Bolters+Bolters+Bolters+Missiles)
Garasoch (With torpedo fighters)
Jeshakar Vi Scout Ship
Oclavita Ki Command Destroyer

Handy to have about:-
Kahtrik So (Tough as nails)
Rhoric (See above)
Targrath (not agile, and shorter ranged than the Omelos, so I'm less scared of it)
Mankhat (Dishes out the hurt, especially at range. Very fragile for it's level)
Mishakur (Good... I like fighting the Mankhat less, though)
Wahant (Slow, but excellent all round firepower)
Jeshakar frigate
Jeshaker Tae

Not so good:-
Oclavita Destroyer (undergunned)
Kahtrik Assault ship (no long range weapons, slow)

I think that's about it. Tactics are genreally get in close as fast as possible, then open up with as many guns as you can (Most of the big firepower is forward facing). Pentacons with 2 scouts, an oclavita ki and 2 torpedo boats are useful at Raid level games.

first of all i will say thank you for all the answers to help me.

So here my final descition:

First i will play Mimbari - ok that's quit strange, but its easy to explane: the mimbari were the only aviable Fleetbox in the shop and i will play a couple of tournaments in the next week. But i also have a friend which i can sell them.

So my final descition is : i don't know *shameonme*

So i definitly will choise between Dilgar and Centauri and here my pro/contra

Centauri: looks nice, good allaround stats, beamweapons and the nice Valerian-selfmadeship :)
Asskicking Airwings
Contra: i think there are many centauri players, so i want a litte unique

Dilgar, very hard hitting at close combat, also nice ships with more details and colours. I think there are only a few dilgar players

Contra: No Beam, cant take that damage like Centauri. Bad Antifighter.

Actually, Dilgar ships tend to be tougher than Centauri. Centauri are often considered "glass hammers," they can dish out a lot of damage but they can't take it as well. Both Centauri are Dilgar have poor anti-fighter defences, but both get good fighters to use defensively to deal with enemy fighters.

Dilgar are certainly less common than Centauri, so if that's a deciding factor for you, I'd go for them. Both are good fleets and pretty easy for beginners to pick up.

At patrol and skirmish the Dilgar ships are tougher. At raid, battle and war, the Centauri are much tougher.

I can't think of a single Centauri ship that I'd think of as glass. Hammer certainly.
