What are people using to actually play the game?

Hi all,

I am not trying to be contentious, and realise that ADB want to keep ownership of ship record cards etc to themselves. All fine, no problem whatever....

BUT

I am putting on my first training game next week with 6 players, everyone will just get 1-2 ships. What are people actually using NOW for ship record cards, marking off shields, damage, critical hits, damaged attributes etc?

I am a little unsure how best to proceed. If anyone can point me to anything official or has anything "unofficial" feel free to pm me. Basically whatever the best option available that I can actually use next Wednesday.

Ta very much in advance.

You can find my (stat-less) record sheet and other play aids here: http://pdfcast.org/tag/acta-sf
Slightly better than scrap paper, but not by much :)

If you've trouble opening the downloaded PDF (some PDF readers appear to think they're corrupted), use the print option when you open it and select "print to PDF" to save a copy on your PC. The "printed" copy will be fine.

LimeyDragon has a more comprehensive reference sheet here: http://limeydragon.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=490

Scrap bits of paper.

The damage records for each ship in ACTA are not complex, each can be represented by something like this;

USS Exemplar Shields (24)_____________ Crits taken:
Damage (20/6)___________

While specific printed ship record cards are a 'nice to have' add-on, they're not required to play the game.

We have made up ship sheets in word (Digger actually did most of the work). these have worked nicely for B5:ACTA and Victory At Sea

Since I have been playing SFB and Full Thrust for years, I just can't manage to play a space combat game if I don't have a little picture of my ship to mark boxes off of.

So I just used paint to whip up some SSDs with the outline of the ships which contain all of the weapons (with arcs marked), traits and hull boxes each ship has. Took about 10 minutes per ship, stealing icons where reasonable from some of my various Full Thrust resources.

WAY better, imo, than just jotting down a bunch of numbers on scratch paper. Plus it adds to the "prettiness" factor, which is key in getting my girlfriend to play these kinds of games with me. :)
