What about a Citizen/Scholar book for Traveller?

Well, they are the only two careers left that haven't gotten an official splat book yet so why not?

Personally, in addition to the expanded careers and equipment lists containing specialist tools, I would like to see sections on establishing and running colonies/outposts as well as ways to include research into a campaign.
Colonies and corporate outposts could cover quite a bit from establishing an agricultural colony on a deceptively peaceful world or taking part in a mining expedition to a nightmare planet like Redstone (the lava world in Starcraft 2 where you perodically had to order all your miners to take the high ground to avoid the rising lava that frequently flooded the mineral-rich lowlands.) On top of the problems of trying to wrestle a profit from a hostile environment, pirates could take an interest in your efforts, hostile aliens could try to claim the planet you're on for their empire, or you discover the planet you're on is home to a nightmarish race that your GM might have borrowed from Aliens or that Chronicals of Riddick movie Pitch Black.
Research projects could also be extended and expanded upon to include the entire party. Unfortunately... not really sure what to do with that one besides the obvious (scholar PC solves the riddle, rest of the party helps him get the pieces together without getting killed.)

Anyway, my two cents. What do the rest of you think?

I think that is an excellent idea. Expanding the Citizen career sounds especially interesting and with Scholars you could add some interesting things like going to college to the careers.

I agree, its a great idea. And a new way to play too. IMO, there is not much stuff published about the life of standard citizens in the source material.

I'd like to see this, including hunters/guides, terraforming workers, vacc-suit world colonists vs. open-air colonies, starport workers, and some suggested details on Trades by TL and cultural variants.

I'd suggest rather than release one book covering both, that you include the guide to the third imperium that someone has mentioned in another thread. That way, you could have 2 books, as follows:

Book 1: Colonists and Civilians

Describes further careers for colonists and civilians of all stripes (corporate workers, farmers, engineers, colonists, industrial workers, service industry, maybe local politicians, religious personnel). Includes some gear for 'normal' civilians (including clothing, style, food etc, giving some detail on everyday life in the Imperium, religion etc). Lots of detail on setting up of colonies, various roles in colonies, events that can happen relating to colonies.

Book 2: Scientists and Scholars

Describes further careers for advanced education (scientists of various types, scholars such as historians, archaeologists (including xeno-), students, colleges and universities etc). Includes some gear for these careers too. Lots of detail on the history of the Imperium (since this book covers historians and similar careers).

Do a 'Citizens of the Imperium' book, but don't just limit it to Citizens and Scholars. Go full out on every concievable Career not already represented in the splat books to date. Make the options as wide ranging as WFRP.

Add some rules in it how to start a vcompany and what it would cost and how to earn money, just as the dillettants can do
