Ways to fight stealth

Actually, there are also asteroids, ship explosions, suicidal fighters, ramming, jump point shock waves, etc...

Quite a few things for a lower value hull to worry about...

The main problem that I have with the version of stealth being proposed is the dramatic change to play balance it would cause. If I understand it correctly, even with bumping all stealth by one point, dropping a Sharlin's stealth by two would eliminate all stealth modifiers from the shot. Under the current rules, the Sharlin would still have 3+ stealth. Your rule would cause the Sharlin to suck up 50% more fire if it's stealth is reduced in this way. Even the suggestion of lowering the hull value of ships wouldn't really help since it would then be dramatically more vulnerable to anything that ignores stealth.

I think before this would work you would have to work out this issue.

This is why I suggested a "stealth dodge". Rolling more dice makes the results more average across the game and it isn't all or nothing. Unfortunately, I thought at the time that it was too much like dodge. I agree that stealth should "feel" different.

Yes it would cause quite a change to play balance but consider the following: if you DONT get that -2 to the sharlins stealth you need a 6 to hit it PERIOD. No lucky stealth roll and then nuke it, you just trickle the odd hit onto it. Furthermore if its at long range you cant hit it EVER (without assistance) I think you may find it all balances out somewhat. Now personally whilst I think it WOULD work with current stealth Id certainly suspect it would work alot better if main fleets in question (Minbari, and to a lesser extent Psi Corps) were redone from the ground up (at least in terms of their actual number of hit points and so on)

hmm not sure what happened there. Cant delete one of em now theres a reply after it, can a mod please delete one of the deouble posts? :P

(and thats one more for the count... )

Amusingly enough, they weren't exactly double posts. The second one had more text at the end (basically the end of the sentence). And, of course, that was the one removed...

On the lighter side, we could all make two or three more posts while we try to get the complete post reinstated. How many posts do I have to make to stop being a "cub" anyway?

Yippee!

That was enough!

Hey, wait... now I'm a "shrew"?

Um... how many posts do I have to make to stop being a "shrew"?...

Evidently the magic number is 10.

EDIT - if you really want to know, use the "Member list" and sort by post count. You can get an idea there.
