Warzone/SST conversion

Mongoose
Like alot of people I got drawn back into Warzone thanks to the bonza deal prince August had last month, mainly with the idea of using them as LAMI or rebel colony troops, and around the same time found an internet site that had all of those lovely Warzone rule books available for direct download.
Having read my way through most of it I'm struck by the simularites between the two systems (no supprise since both seem to be a reaction to 40k's IGYG system), for example in Warzone troops have in general 3 actions per turn, which may be held in reserve for use as reactions in the oposing players- this is paralelled y the reaction system in SST, Psychic units have their powers included in the price in both systems, Armies have specific special powers etc.

Now, being firmly back on the Warzone wagon (Love the background, and the secret of my screen names gotten out in some circles lol), but unprepared to go to the hassle of trying to get people to play yet another system I decided a while back to get my lazy ass into gear and get a mod together, probably based mostly on 1st edition Warzone since theres less troops to piss around with, but even so thats alot of stuff, theres about 20 different factions after all!
Just wondering if anyone had any ideas/wants to help etc.

Um... yeah thats it.

We did a Warzone meets Starship Troopers game last year. I made stats for Starship Troopers bugs for Warzone Ultimate Edition. Warzone is one of my all-time favorite games.

Basically the scenario consisted of these various corporate forces (we had Capital, Cybertronic, 2 different Bauhuas houses, and The Brotherhood) on Dark Eden (the post-apocalyptic Earth) looking for the Skulls of Dark Eden (4 or 5 skulls that had parts of the million digit code that could blow up Luna etched into them). Getting the skull would get one of the factions in good with the Cartel, so screw the other factions. A tip lead to them investigating an old fortress, (where the scenario turned into an Easter Egg hunt). The fortress was in a territory held by a particularly hostile tribe of the Cresentian Brotherhood known as The Lords of the Flies. One marker had the skull 4 others were nothing and another was a bug hole. If anyone found a skull or the bughole then the bugs would come out en-masse (picture Whiskey Outpost). The forces were to wait for a Cartel dropship to pick them up (at a randomly determined time). It would leave as soon as the model with the skull got on it. So basically everyone was out to get the skull, stay alive and get as many models on the dropship. Bonus points for the faction that got the skull on the dropship.

As the groups rummaged throught the fortress and took shots at each other, they were harrassed by Cresentian troops. When one found the skull, the bugs started coming in.

Turned into a great game, lots of compliments from my group. I modeled the bugs pretty well as they seemed just as tough as they appeared in the movie. Required lots of shots to take them down. Tankers went down pretty easy however. Although they really messed up the Capital and Cybertonic forces, using the large Warzone flame template!

Sounds like great fun. Do note with the tankers they did seem too die very fast in the movie and that was LAMI!!! More psychological thatn anything else.

Sounds great from both of you. I'd be very interested to see the rules, me being a rabid Warzone fan (Lutherian Triads and Imperial all the way!) and loving the starship troopers.

On an aside, I heard that Warzone is coming back as a collectible mini game. Doesn't seem like a good thing though, since there were so many different factions in the game. Trying to build a force from random blisters just sounds insane to me.

Plus the minis are 35mm. Which is shite. I hate CMG's anyway.

I'd rather like Mongoose to grab the moulds, sell at the prices of Prince August, possibly pre-painted (I'd prefer not but I know many Yank players like it that way) and just keep adding to the range and getting rid, slowly, of the older, crappier figs.

I honestly dont think the 35mm thing is all that bad.
Things like the necromower, biogiant, pretorian stalkers etc could do with being a little bit bigger :D In fact anything for the dark legion should be usuable other than the necromutants and heretics.

CmdrKiley that sounds awesome! Dark Eden is a really nice setting I've always thought. I'd be interested in seeing the stats you gave the bugs in the warzone setting if you still have them floating about somewhere. :D

To be honest I don't see Mongoose getting it since someone else already has the rights to it. Kind of like Star Wars. I know that that is on their "wishlist" but with Wizards already having it, I just never see that happening.

Isn't the new MC game just Prepainted, and not actually a CMG?

Nope, its a CMG. Comes in little barrel things. (werll it was a CMG last I'm heard, might have changed now. Hope so.)

I agree that 35mm is great for the bigger beasts. Its just that its a bit naff for the grunts.

Official word is, theres gonna be a standardised starter set for the factions, but purchases after that are of the random variety.
Im looking forward to this tbh, but the delays are only gonna get worse :|
(Im steeling myself for the film being cack as well lol)

By Ilian, is the film still going? Or is this a new film probably be cack anyway. And if the Yanks make it we'll have to listen to all that pro-Capitol tosh from UWZ.

Post-production now:)

Plot Outline: 23rd century soldier Major Mitch Hunter (Jane) leads a fight against an army of underworld NecroMutants.

Ah..so it is that one. Must admit it looked truly dire. Still, hopefully it will be fun nonsense, I need a popcorn movie.
