War Fleets of the Fifth Frontier War is out now!

The outcome of the Fifth Frontier War will be decided by the clash of battle fleets and the capture of worlds, but fleets do not operate in isolation. Escorts, scouts, logistics ships and raiders all play their part. It may be that a heroic convoy defence or a daring raid could tip the balance of a fleet engagement. A crucial mote of intelligence gained or interruption of communications might provide an opportunity to win a decisive victory or avoid crushing defeat.

War Fleets of the Fifth Frontier War presents the doctrines of the Third Imperium and Zhodani Consulate and details warships from both sides of the conflict, from battleships to covert operations vessels and third-line warships of the Imperial Colonial Fleet. With deck plans and notes on variants, roles and deployment, any of these ships can be the focus of adventure.

looking it over.... fabulous.

So many new ships.. at least to me that I haven't seen before. I wanted this for my active duty naval campaign and was exactly what I hoped and figured it would be. More Imperial Navy ships than you can shake a stick at woo hoo.

So, looking through it, I see the biggest vessel is the 1,000,000 ton Duamu-Class Heavy Logistics Ship. I'm curious if anything larger is lurking around in the fleet or on its design boards. Not that I need details, but I'm in the process of designing a Navy shipyard and it would be helpful to make it big enough for any project. Of course, if you want to drop details, I won't stop you or complain. ;)

For that matter, what kind of capacity does a full-blown Navy shipyard have? Even a ballpark figure would be helpful if only for scale.

Got mine!
And I think we have an answer to age old question: Space Fighters in Traveller, Yes or No?
Some of the Imperial ships look like they were designed from a tray full of leftover Legos, but as a wise CinC-Pac admiral once said, 'They can't all be pretty...'

It looks like the influence of the famed naval architect Jennell Jaquays continues to shape the Imperial Naval design philosophy.

Woot! This is totally useless for my cozy slice of life campaign, and I am totally looking forward to it!
I was pleasantly surprised that there's one, maybe two, ships that might find a way to appear in a game. The Piankir "monitor" looks like it could do some fun police/anti piracy stuff and maybe some of the small craft.

Other than that, lots of stuff that's fun to read but that I won't likely ever find a use for :D

The Shivva? Is the Zhodani Shivva-class Patrol Frigate in there?
Doesn't appear to be.
Neither is the Zhdits, even though it is prominently featured on the website page for the new book. That's actually good, because I have this perfectly good design for the export version of the ship in a thing that I'm kind of stalled on...

Hmm, don't suppose there's any room left in JTAS 18 for a 'small warships of the Zhodani frontier fleets' sort thing with a Shivva and a Zhidits?

If I see it correctly, there are no previous Zhodani designs from any sources in there. No Shivva, Zhdits, Vlezhdatl, Ninz, Chaql... nor any of the ships from PP:Fleet or Squadron Strike: Traveller. (Although the aesthetic of the Zhodani ships has obviously been influenced by Ad Astra Games' miniatures for these games.)

Oh, I thought there was a Ninz-class in the War Fleets book (page 163).
