Can you escape the Fifth Frontier War?

Body pistols and firebombs turn a normal day on the starport concourse suddenly lethal. An uprising on-planet and a Zhodani battlefleet inbound are the first signs that the Fifth Frontier War has broken out. With the system under attack from within and without, the Travellers must escape before the starport is overrun.

In Opening Moves, the Travellers will experience the terror and the denial; the heroism and the sheer stupidity of the first days of the Fifth Frontier War. A race across District 268 places them at the pivotal Battle of Elixabeth, where they will play a greater part than anyone will ever know.

Opening moves page 2 :

"Sufficient information is given in this volume to run
the adventure, although The Fifth Frontier War
will be highly useful. Some concepts, such as the
levels of influence wielded by characters, and some
background information is found in that book and will
not be repeated here"

I really appreciate the gameplay video! I would have loved to see the players role-playing the effect of their rolls.

Interesting little adventure. I would suggest that in the future if you are going to have scenes where the social status of particular individuals is a major factor, there should be at least a sidebar on how this would be altered by the presence of a PC with significant status of their own.

That's obviously something a GM can determine on their own, but some of the situations in this adventure would be dramatically affected by a PC noble (especially if they were a former Naval officer). It would definitely be helpful for newer GMs or those who just prefer to actually use published adventures more or less as written.

I must say I'm really bothered by the picture of the troops leaving the landing craft and the lead trooper is firing their weapon to the side, while the helmet is straight ahead. I get they can see what they're shooting at due to smart weapons etc., but it makes it look like they're some yahoo out for a day just randomly firing their weapon.

I'm sure on that trooper's HUD crosshairs were on dead center of the target.

I'm curious how many pages this has? How many are the adventure and how many are background?

I haven't read it yet, but from skimming through the PDF : there's 33 pages of background, 82 pages of adventure, and then 44 pages of candies (central supply catalog, high guard, etc).

Thanks! That (along with the DTRPG preview, thanks Space Smurf) is the info I need to make my decision to pick it up. Now I need to nudge the player who's into 3D printing to print and paint some minis from the upcoming Kickstarter...

No adventure ever runs as written because players will always wander off their own way down the adventure path. Just as no plan survives contact with the enemy, no adventure survives contact with the players. lol
