Walsall Tournament

Thanks for the message letting me know about this - family commitments really have taken me "out of the loop" for the last few months!

I'd be interested, definitely but don't know at the moment whether I'd be able to make it or not. I'd love to assemble and take my Raiders but I only have a 5 FAP fleet at Raid (max, 5 FAP at Battle with scavenged ships) so would have to take EA/Vorlons/ISA...

I'll confirm or not soon hopefully.

just been thiking, and this is something I expect one of the many statisticians to reply too.
Noticing the Shadows have done so well in recent tourneys, I was wondering what effect, if any Triggys beam system has on the chances of shadow ships getting pinned?
The whole principle behind Triggy's beam system (and the other alternatives, for that matter) is to give the same number of hits on average, i.e. 1 per AD. The difference is that Triggy's system is more likely than the original system to get that average.

So I would guess that a Young Ship has about the same chance of being pinned by a Sharlin as before, but less chance of being pinned by a Teshlan with a ludicrous runaway expansion.

@Triggy: you're allowed different fleets in each round. Assuming you're able to carry both, there's nothing to stop you playing Raiders in one or both of the early games (5 Skirmish, 3 Raid), then switching to EA/Vorlons/ISA for the bigger battles. Or, indeed, playing a different fleet in each of the four games. ;)

Will be good to see you again if you can make it, I shall see you on the field, um, err I mean in the err, space of space... ?

Right, i've thunked it over and decided that the last game will be a standard "Annihilation" scenario. I just don't think, with the time alloted to the final battle, that there is room to be incorporating special rules that could slow down the game. :?
The next one I do will be a three game event, but they will be bigger, longer and involve special conditions/rules etc...
Sorry if this causes inconvenience, but I think its for the best :D

meh, I just planned on killing everything anyway, space station included...

Me too - Shadows tend to do that.................. 8) :D

hope to see at the tourney Triggy!

OK, it looks like we could get a nice turn out for this... so far we've got:-

Myself (Kennyboy)
Greg Smith
Charles
Paul
Alex
Neil
Burger
Jim
Digger
Dale - hopefully
Andy
Shane
Richard
Darren - should be OK
Dale - should be OK
Keith - possibly
Hiffano
Triggy - hopefully
Sneaky Chris - barring further car disasters

We've still got 3 weeks to go, so further additions still have time to declare themselves...

The day should go a little something like this...

10am -10.30am
Sign-in - Say hi to everyone, taunting optional :D

10.30am - Noon = Game 1 (5 pt Skirmish)
Space Superiority - (terrain, no hyperspace), Max 8 ships (10 Drazi)

Noon = Lunch break - probably best to bring stuff with you... 30 mins isn't long for casual walks around Walsall

12.30 - 2pm = Game 2 (3 pt Raid, minimum 1 raid ship (or higher PL) )
Assassination - (terrain, no hyperspace), Max 8 ships (10 Drazi)

2.15pm - 3.45pm = Game 3 (2 pt Battle)
Rescue - (terrain, One ship of the fleet may start in hyperspace)
Max 8 ships (10 Drazi)

4pm - 5.45pm = Game 4 (3 pt War, must have at least one War (or higher) ship - this ship may not start in hyperspace)
Annihilation - (One ship may start in hyperspace, terrain)
Max 10 ships (12 Drazi)

5.45pm - 6pm = Awards etc... Then depart.

P+P rules amendments apply with the exception of Centauri Hunting Packs.
Triggy's Beam system in operation
Fleets and races may be different for each game - just declare at the start of the tourney (and give a list to me).

I've pencilled in a "grudge" match for Andy and Hiffano (I assume that's OK guys?) as their 1st round, anyone else fancy a specific opponent for Game 1?
I will also endeavour to make sure that no-one plays one of their "regular" opponents in the first - and possibly second - round.

I accept your challenge vile "insert race here"

I shall crush you mercilessley, with little mercy... :?

I thought the 2nd round was decided by Swiss system?
Or are we just assuming that Digger and Hiff will be the bottom 2 after the first round?
