Vehicle Handbook Update 2026 - Now Here!

In the Core rulebook and CSC the various categories of weapons have the skill that would be needed to operate the weapons in that category. However, in the VHB2026 not all of the categories have a skill listed.

  • Artillery Weapons = Heavy Weapons (artillery)
  • Direct-Fire Weapons = Heavy Weapons (vehicle)
  • Energy Weapons = ??? (for some similar weapons the CSC lists Heavy Weapons (vehicle) and it is probably ok to use here)
  • Rockets, Bombs & Missiles = Heavy Wepoans (vehicle)
  • Archaic Weapons = ??? (while there are smaller archaic weapons in other books, these are all new)
  • Biotech Weapons = ??? (this is a new category of weapons)
Ideas?

So I've been creating a few vehicles using the book. And while I haven't play-tested anything, so far I think the relationship between critical hits and structure is very very cool. What would stop us from using this mechanic for spaceship combat? Would I need to re-think the critical hit table to bring it in-line with the Vehicle Handbook '26 or would I use it as-is? The major difference I see is that high-severity critical hits lead to a very tension-building on ramp to further critical hits...

Any thoughts on putting out a supplemental table for spaceship combat for folks who want to go this route?

Matt said he likes the vehicle critical system, and Chris put out feelers in the feedback thread for High Guard shortly after that.
Coincidence?
