VaS Die Roll Reduction

I have never been a fan of rolling 200 dice to determine a single combat result. So, based on a d6 probability model I produced a d20 combat chart.

You roll 3 d20 of various colors. 1 Die determines the number of hits based on AD versus Target Value, the 2nd Die determines amount of Damage based on DD versus taget score, the 3rd Die determines critical hits.

Anyone interested send me a PM.

One of the things athat I like about this hobby is the variation in preferred approaches that players have to a problem. VAS falls into the "Bucket of Dice" school which some of my wargaming chums love as a concept. Others hate the idea and find the dice reduction approach ideal. I did something similar to this in my "Iron and Fire" rules after some of my players got fed up roling loads of dice during a Lissa game. Personally I like the idea of having a statistically derived "short cut" available when the number of D6 doesn't fit comfortably in my hand :)

David, I agree. I played with the d6 for quite a while. And the d6 give you excellent results. It just takes way to long to achieve a result. I played the "Battle of Denmark Strait" scenario using both systems, and the d20 method cut about 35min off the game play time.

Not that time saving was the primary objective, I just find rolling a zillion dice tedious. But the time saving was a bonus, especially with large multi-player games. A single round of combat goes much faster.
