update 20-05: A.D.Publishing 40% SALE!

Hi again,

4 weeks ago we published the World at War: Gear Krieg book. It seems to become our bestseller.

Time to reconsider our releases. We ran a Poll at the DP9 forum, had some healthy discussions there what is best to do (customer feedback IS important for us!) and made some decisions.
We are going to bring out Walker specific books. These books will be far cheaper then our usual books. By doing so we can focus on the walkers that are already represented by beautiful DP9 miniatures and we can published the books more frequently.

So the next release is the British Walker Compendium I: Cavalier
The book will be ready to download VERY soon. All Mks from I-VI covered, all the Traits you need to play with them, all the additional special rules, the AFVs army list and the usual amount of pics, plus the B&W version and the unit cards.
Cavalier_Mk_IV-VI_scenic.jpg

The book will be shortly followed by the British Walker Compendium II: Roundhead
Again all Mks will be covered.

Roundhead_Mk_V_VI.jpg

We also started to look very seriously into the possibilities of a quality full colour print version of our Gear Krieg book, keep the fingers crossed, there is maybe a way...

Hi again,

we are working like hell on the next two books, the British Walker Compendiums Cavalier and Roundhead.
That does not stop us to also work on the Germans...
;-)

PzKpf_IV_Flak-Kaempfer_I_Flak-Loki.jpg

PzKpf IV Flak-Kämpfer I “Flak-Loki”
In Service:1942
The most interesting conversion based on a modified PzKpf I was the Flak-Kämpfer I. It was armed with a battery of four 2cm Flak 38 guns. The guns were mounted on either sides of the hull. The chassis was overloaded and engines taxed to maintain performances, which tended to dramatically shorten the service lifespan.

PzKpf_IV_Ausfuhrung_F_Meuchelmorder.jpg

PzKpf IV Ausführung F “Meuchelmörder”
In Service:1943
The Ausführung F was nicknamed "Meuchelmörder" ("assassin") by its crew; impressed with the kill capacity of their new R-92 Lenkraketen (anti-vehicle guided missile). The F variant carried no additional armament or even arms, since the entire fighting compartment space was filled with the required guidance electronics.

That is the reason why the book includes a Chapter ("A Word on scale!") that will give you rules of how to play with multi based 15mm infantry stands that are so popular in the 15mm scale.

If I want to stick to individual basing in 15mm, what size basing would work best?

Whatever you like, I am using old German Pfennigs!
Plays nicely in 15mm with individually based minis BTW, the weapon ranges are just more realistic looking!

im realy liking this, i have a 1/72 scale WW2 collection that isnt geting any play the GK may get some interest in games going with just a minor conversion to a spare T34 i have ..

so do the russians get any antigrav equipment as well ?

No, I am bound to the Gear Krieg background. The Soviets got a lot of superscience tanks in his background, but no hovertanks.

Hot on the heels of our successful Vehicle Compendium and the initial Gear Krieg release is our 7th book:
World at War: Gear Krieg: British Walker Compendium I - Cavalier!

64585.jpg

After some discussions on the DP9 forum we decided to split the release of the book in Walker specific books.
These books will be far cheaper (the Cavalier booklet is only $ 2.99) as our usual books. By doing so we can focus on the walkers that are already represented by beautiful DP9 miniatures and we can published the books more frequently.
The British Walker Compendium I: Cavalier booklet is your comprehensive 20 page guide to using the British superscience walker Cavalier in Battlefield Evolution World at War: Gear Krieg.
The British Walker Compendium I: Cavalier takes a detailed look at the many types of this superscience walker for your British and Commonwealth forces from all theatres and periods of World War II! Each vehicle is detailed with background information, factory variants, field modifications and a modelling guide.
Included are the Cavalier Mk I to VI; the book also provides new Traits, an AFV force list and an extended British armoury to add to your games of World at War: Gear Krieg.

As with our previous books you will get in fact 3 books with this deal:
a full colour version with many high quality pictures of fully painted models
in addition a B&W text only printer friendly version
and all the unit cards to field these vehicles conveniently on the tabletop.

All units in this book are designed by the same principles as the existing vehicles in the Battlefield Evolution: World at War and Battlefield Evolution: Pacific War rulebook also written by Agis Neugebauer.
This book requires the use of Battlefield Evolution: World at War, available from Mongoose Publishing.

You can download the book (as all our books) from the Wargame Vault here.

Hi again,
time for additional preview pics!
This time the Ausführung E and E-X.
PzKpf_IV_Ausfuhrung_E.jpg

PzKpf IV Ausführung E
In Service:1942
The E model was based on C frames that were damaged in combat, though many were also built when Krupp couldn't deliver enough of the manipulator assembly. It sported twin 3.2cm self-loading cannons that were slaved to the same fire control device.
Modeling Notes: Build a basic Loki C chassis (the one with the roof)and replace the arms and weapon assemblies with two 3.2cm guns from the Axis Weapon Pack (DP9-635).

PzKpf_IV_Ausfuhrung_E-X.jpg

PzKpf IV Ausführung E-X
In Service:1943
The E chassis also served as a testbed for various devices, most notably the Bündellichtwerfer (heavy laser) equipped Ausführung E-X model; in addition to the Bündellichtwerfer, the E-X version also sported a Kämpfer Panzerfaust for last-ditch self-defense if the laser broke down or overheated.
Modeling Notes: Build a basic Loki C chassis (the one with the roof) but replace the arms and weapon assemblies with the Panzerfaust and Laser pieces from the Axis Weapon Pack (DP9-635) instead.

BTW: The Loki book is written and now in playtest! We are on it...

Just a quote from DP9s yesterday announcement:
"Great New for our Gear Krieg Fans. Back in August, A.D. Publishing released their first licensed Gear Krieg ebook entitled World at War: Gear Krieg for use with the Battlefield Evolution game system. Dream Pod 9 and A.D. PzKpf_IV_Ausfuhrung_D_Loki_sm.jpg

PzKpf IV Ausführung D
In Service:1941
The PzKpf IV Ausführung D was in fact an Ausführung C model retrofitted with mounting lugs for a number of artillery rockets on the hull's roof. Crews disliked it because the rockets made the vehicle sluggish until they were fired, and the launch racks blocked the upper hatch, making a quick exit much harder for the crew, which had to escape through the belly hatch.
Modeling Notes: Build a Loki Ausführung C as normal, then add two boxy rocket packs from the Axis Weapon Pack (DP9-635).

PzKpf_IV_Ausfuhrung_G_Loki_sm.jpg

PzKpf IV Ausführung G
In Service:1943
Inspired by the field success of the Ausführung D, commanders requested their old Loki to be retrofitted with artillery rockets. The Ausführung G was essentially a D model that carried its rockets side by side and added arms on most variants. The self-defense armament was changed to a MG-42 machinegun and a single Panzerfaust carried on a quick release hull mount. The latter was intended as a last ditch weapon, though many crews use it in an assault role.
Modeling Notes: Build a Loki Ausführung C as normal, then add two boxy rocket packs from the Axis Weapon Pack (DP9-635). Add one Panzerfaust and the machinegun box.

The Loki book will be out soon, we are currently in the final phase of the playtesting.

T34/85 Sn Sonic Tank - Modeling Note: I used a Battlefront FoW T34 tank and fitted a small Satellite dish to the turret. The dish is from GZG 15mm SF building fittings.

T34_85_H_Thermal_Tank.jpg

T34/85 H Thermal Tank - Modeling Note: Again a Battlefront FoW T34 tank was used. The Thermal gun is from one of the GZG 15mm SF building fittings.

T34_85_T_Tesla_Tank.jpg

T34/85 T Tesla Tank - Modeling Note: I used a Battlefront FoW T34 tank and fitted the DP9 Tesla gun to the turret. The Tesla gun is from the Allied weapon pack of DP9. To make it look more fitting to the tank I shortened it to 3 “dishes”.

Just a small update about the printed version of the WaW: Gear Krieg book. The files are done and we are now going to actually print the first proof copy. :D

The Loki Walker book is finished and goes now to layout!

We are on it! 8)

Small update on the printed Gear Krieg book: DP9 expect the printed books back the week of the 16th of November. The book is already available to order on the DP9 Online Store and will start shipping on the 20th in America.
DP9 will ship the copies for the European market also in November to me. So at the beginning of December I will be able to ship the books in Europe.

We will retail the book for 26,00 EURO + 4,00 EURO shipment in Germany (Einschreiben) and 5,00 EURO shipemt (recorded delivery) within Europe.

Some more news on the Loki book can now be found at the dedicated site section:
http://www.adpublishing.de/html/german_wc_i__loki.html

I have also added a new unit:
Panzer Befehls Kämpfer I Loki
In Service: 1939
During Early War a limited number of Ausführung A Lokis were modified to serve as command walker. The hull was the same as a basic Ausführung A Loki, though the hull was slightly modified and additional radio equipment was added.
The Panzerbefehlskämpfer I was the first to benefit from the new style Krupp suspension that was at that time developed for the Walküre, it featured articulated tracks at the rear for better traction and shock absorption. Combined with the lower weight of the Loki hull it soon gained a reputation for being a highly reliable and effective vehicle. Only cost considerations prevented a more wide spread use of this walker configuration.
PzBefehlsKpf_I_Loki.jpg

Modeling Notes: This is a very interesting but easy to do conversion. You will need a Loki and a Walküre kit. Build a Loki Ausführung A as normal but use the legs of a Walküre, cover the hull/ leg joint with some green stuff and then add a suitable commanding officer miniature and as much jerry cans, ammo boxes and stowage as you can fit around the cupola. Small details as the Mechanic and the Dog on the base (both by Peter Pig) help to let the miniature stand out from the rest of the army. Add huge radio aerials and you are done!

Dream Pod 9 have announced an upcoming print version of the World at War: Gear Krieg eBook as well as several Gear Krieg 15mm army deals.

From their website:
"Dream Pod 9 is releasing two new Full Color books this week the first is World at War: Gear Krieg (DP9-APD08, ISBN: 978-1-897460-96-2, Softcover, 78 Full Color pages, $38.00) for the Battlefield Evolution Game by Mongoose Publishing. World at War: Gear Krieg was released back in August as an ebook by A.D. Publishing.
The layout and photos in the ebook looked so amazing we decide it needed to be printed. The book is written by Agis Neugebauer, who also wrote Battlefield Evolution: World at War and Pacific War books for Mongoose Publishing. Agis also painted and took all the beautiful miniature photos in the book. This product requires the use of Battlefield Evolution: World at War Rulebook and some Gear Krieg miniatures to play. Books are due back from the printers this Wednesday (November 18th) and we will ship to customers on Friday the 20th, you can order your copy now on the Dream Pod 9 Online Store.
If you live in Europe you may want to wait and order the new book from A.D. Publishing to save on some shipping costs, DP9 will be shipping copies of the book over to A.D.Publishing in Germany as soon as they receive them back from the printers.
A.D. Publishing will retail the book for 26,00 EURO + 4,00 EURO shipment in Germany (Einschreiben) and 5,00 EURO for recorded delivery within Europe.

Also, the original sculptor of the Gear Krieg miniatures line, Alain Gadbois, is working on the first new releases in many years, which will be the Shiki 38 and Shiki 41 Walkers for Japan. These will include extra weapons to make several varients of the Shiki models and two new weapons never released the sonic gun for the Shiki 38 and light laser for the Shiki 41, we hope to have these ready before the end of the year."

To support the army deals I have created an AFV / Walker army list that can be used to play with the DP9 armies as they come! Have fun.
You can download the list from the Download section of the A.D.Publishing website:
http://www.adpublishing.de/html/downloads.html

Small update: I received the customs notification that the books arrived in Germany.
I will pick them up today, so the printed Battlefield Evolution – World at War: Gear Krieg book will be available in Europe VERY soon.

Hi again, 8) today was the BIG day, I picked up my share of book copies at the customs. What a feeling to hold your first self-written and published book physically in your hands!
:D
I will make a proper announcement on my website and all, but everyone in Europe who wants a copy can also PM me. I will then sent you a paypal invoice and the book will in your hands in no time at all.

“World at War: Gear Krieg Banzai!” is 99% written and already in the good hands of our creative consultant/ editor/ proofreader Reuben.

It will include a lot of weird Pacific War background, at least 10 Shiki variants, an army list to field combat walker only forces and 3 Infantry army lists:

Oni,
Koumajutsu and
Betsudotai Ninja special Ops.
Add the lists of my Mongoose published Pacific War book and you are well covered for the weird Pacific War!

DP9 also finished sculpting the new Japanese Shiki 38 and Shiki 41 Walkers for Gear Krieg. Which will be the first new miniature releases for Gear Krieg in many years. The Shiki was a solid early war walker design. They were fast and equipped with a powerful (if limited) punch in the form of the teppoyari anti-tank lance, and they carried two machineguns to deal with enemy infantry.

I received the resin master this week and want to share some pics of the possible variants:

Shiki_38_Sonic.jpg

Shiki 41: The Shiki 41 was basically an upgraded Shiki 38 combat walker. The Japanese were quick to adapt the Shiki walker designs to the jungle environment. Some of the advances included rubber seals to prevent flooding, snorkels to ford small rivers and wide feet to spread out the walker's weight. All together resulted in the 1941 Shiki 41 amphibious walker. The Shiki 41 also received improved frontal armour and a slightly better engine.
