first of all, amazing work on all compandiums already released. As a allied player I just cant wait till the U.S compandium to kick my axis friend behind.
I'm out of ideas to how to defeat the panther and king tigers that I stump across to often. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! I am very confident that the right tools will be provided! 8)

However I also have this creepy feeling that maybe all too many big cats are fielded by the German players. Maybe a StuG or Pz IV is also fun once in a while!

@Agis

I downloaded your German Vehicle Compendium the day it was released and must say, great work! I read through the whole book during the last week and I have two small things I'd like to ask.

The first concerning transports.
Am I only able to buy transports as Support Assets or are they available for certain units as Transport option (e.g. the German Grenadier Squad)?
For example, can I buy a Light Truck as dedicated transport vehicle for my Command Squad without using a support asset slot in my organisation chart?

The second thing is about points costs for two german anti-aircraft vehicles.
From your list it seems, that the Möbelwagen and Ostwind have the exact same profile (Size, Speed and so on, and even the same armament), the only difference is the In Service Date (1943 compared to 1944). You wrote in your book, that these In Service Dates do not have an impact on game play, so this should make no difference, but actually, the Ostwind is 20 points more expensive without any obvious reason.
Therefore my question, is there an error or did I miss a difference?

Thanks, honest thanks. It was a lot of work and areal labour of love for me, all the better that some like it!

I was deliberately vague here. As far as I am concerned every unit can take a suitable transport without using a support slot. Since all games with units from books under the Logo License are played after asking the opponent I do not see any problem here. Use common sense and a bit of historical feel and all is right.

Darn! You spotted the 1st typo of the book. 115 points is right for both vehicles. I will change the Möbelwagen soon. Thanks!

Ah, ok. This seems like a good thing to me. 8)

Thanks for this clarification! :)

Try to find the Pz.Kpfw IV Ausführung H on page 5. :D

"Versuche mal, auf Seite 5 den Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausführung H zu finden"

But great, great work nonetheless. Keep it coming (especially the US-Book)

As long as someone does something. I'm sick of WW2 this and WW2 that. There are other periods of history, and there's a whole world out there right now - a world with cool things like assault rifles, cruise missiles, attack helicopters and main battle tanks. 8)

I'm with you!!! I definately want to see more Modern & Post Modern stuff

Oddly enough WWI is an interest for me & I have lots of stuff ready to go for WWI

Agis - I certainly hear you - I plan to field more Panzer IVs at a time than big cats - they were certainly ubiquteous & it seems to make for a more even game

- as for Stugs they were FAR more common than many of us think - but they rarely get their due - I only have one in my collection - but IF I buy any more German armor - it will be to bulk up the humble Stug inventory (the 1/48 Tamiya is very tempting)

But too I am a cat lover; current German Motorpool (all 28mm compatible) is;

2 King Tigers (production Turrets - one is the remote controled version from Hobby Masters - for the ultimate geek factor)
6 Tiger Is
5 Panthers
1 Jagdpanther
4 Panzer IVs (& 4 more in a diecast smaller size - useable in a pinch)
1 long barrelled Stug III
2 Hetzers
2 38Ts
3 Marders
7 251s
4 half track prime movers
1 222
1 8 Rad
2 Opel Trucks
2 kubel wagons
2 BMWs with side card
1 Kettenrad

That is all if memory serves correctly - you gotta love Bandai, Solido & the 1/50 Corgis - pics to follow once every body is neatly ensconced in 'ambush pattern' camo

Not a single Panzer III? :)

It does seem to be a fact of life that people who wargame WW2 Germans tend to load up on Tanks of the feline variety, irrespective of the fact that Stugs and PZ III/IV were 2-3 times more numerous.

I hear you - in fact the Stug was an afterthought - focusing on late war the IV was more pravelent than the III - but it is a shortcoming

Sadly - There aren't many IIIs in 1/48-1/50 - the new Tamiya came out after I pretty much put the brakes on buying German armor

Toying with with the Idea of doing some DAK - then there will be plenty of IIIs :!:

YEAH!!!- went and downloaded my cards this evening :!: :!: :!:

I've been following the minor typos on the German Compendium - what are the minor typos fixed in the Soviet Compendium :?: :?:

(not really excited about reprinting if the typos are very minor)

Hi again,

1st: I have changed the subject title to "A.D.Publishing announcement" since already a lot is covered in this thread that goes beyond the Compendiums. I will keep it to one thread to have all relevant news at one place.

The last couple of weeks we were very busy for my wife and me since we were moving in our new house. The miniature hobby is definitely not made for moving highly fragile miniatures around...

But I have also some BIG news:

Dream Pod 9 and A.D. Publishing are proud to announce a joined venture:
The Battlefield Evolution: World at War Gear Krieg book.
GK_AD_logo.jpg

The classic two-fisted Pulp Superscience setting comes to the Battlefield Evolution game line!
Loki_and_FJ_2.jpg

World at War: Gear Krieg is meant as a supplement to the core Battlefield Evolution: World at War rulebook and my Vehicle Compendiums. With this book you can add a healthy dose of pulp gaming to your WW II gaming experience. So what will be in the book? Right now the draft ToC looks like this:
An introduction to the incredible rich and detailed Gear Krieg Universe. It will be only a small glimpse in this wonderful and fascinating game world. I can not recommend the Gear Krieg books of DP 9 enough. So this chapter will only be an appetiser.
New or modified traits – all the traits (Multiple Movement Systems, Glider capable and Airdroppable Gears and much more), you need to play with the units of this book.
Modified Advanced Rules – for sake of complicity and straight from my free World at War: Add On supplement.
The beef of the book – all the unit descriptions, pictures and stats for all the Gear Krieg models that are produced by Dream Pod 9. To get an idea was vehicles these are, check the DP 9 website.
Combined Armoured Fighting Vehicle Forces – is a generic army list that enables you to field an AFV Force in World at War: Gear Krieg.
In Service Table – modified “In Service” dates for real life units to field them in Gear Krieg.
Depending on the success of this book a lot more is possible. Everyone who knows the Gear Krieg universe will already know that the German E-Series tanks, Soviet superheavy tanks, Rocket and Helitroop, Zombies and much, much more are covered in the Gear Krieg books of Dream Pod 9.

Walkure_on_Patrol_2.jpg

And as usual all vehicles in this book will be 100% compatible and consistent with existing vehicles in the Battlefield Evolution: World at War rulebook and all the A.D.Publishing Compendiums also written by me.

Thanks rabidchild.
Gear Krieg is 15mm (1/100) - same as Flames of War.
So you can use an incredible amount of nice models at an affordable prize.
Just base all minis individually and all is fine. I played some games using inches and some cm, both work like a charm. Using 15mm minis together with inches looks really good BTW. The weapon ranges and command distances look much more realistic! I like it.
