Unique mil scifi setting

SnowDog

Mongoose
As much as I like Starship Troopers and Armageddon:2089 (from what I have heard of it) I'd like to see a new setting.

I like the idea of fighting bugs as much as the next guy but sometimes it will get boring and a setting where you will have multiple opponents as well as human foes would be a welcome thing.

If done right then the same setting could be used with RPG rules as well as miniatures game rules.

First I thought about Aliens where actual Xenomorphs were not the main foe but rather other humans etc.

Basically a set of generic rules. Fairly flexible and realistic not tied to any particular setting but capable of being adapted to them with very little work. It would have most of the tropes of military SF available: powered armour, mecha but nothing except a man with a gun would be an integral part of the setting. Scalable from squad sized skirmishes to say, company sized battles.

Would I buy this? Of course I would, this is pretty much the holy grail of SF wargaming. Of course it would have to offer something that the current best of breed do not – and here the competition seems to be Stargrunt and Dirside from Ground Zero Games and to a lesser degree 5150 from Two Hour Wargames (because it has a different focus). Beat those and you have a winner.

Yeah, I just love Stargrunt II even though I have played it only once. It still lacks the roleplaying aspects (it gets kind of hard to zoom in to a team scale and detach individuals). We didn't try out the vehicular rules in SGII but I believe the Dirtside is the game for that.
