Unarmed Parry?

I think that an unarmed combatant could parry a hafted weapon, i.e. battle axe, bardiche, etc. I don't think i'd try to parry a tulwar without a weapon though. Without the Imp Unarmed Strike, i'd give them a penalty to their Parry rating. I think one could rule then non-proficient and give 'em the -4 for it.

Well, technically you can parry with your hands, but it's more of a grapple. I've swatted blades aside, but you need good thick leather gloves or gauntlets and you have to be very careful to hit the flat, not the edge. The best way is to dodge until they screw up, then grab their weapon hand and wrestle the weapon away from them.

I give a broad interpretation to unarmed parry, to include blocking the arm bearing the weapon, thus enabling an unarmed parry, but at greater difficulty.
