Mongoose
so tomorrow im starting to paint the judges i received this morning

i did one a couple weeks ago:

SDC12630.JPG

its been improved a little since then, corrected some mistakes and all that

and its not AS blue, thats just the camera flash

but since that was done, im having a hard time deciding how to do the rest

in the comic books he's blue, simply because inking that much black would have made him look flat and dull

in the movies they're black

on the site here, they're blue AND black

so... whats the general concensus on this?

Either works, it's really just a matter of which you prefer. I've gone with blue just because it's easier to paint (black tends to wind up looking grey when you I highlight it).

im going with vallejo model air black grey for the lawmasters, easier to shade it than flat black or dark grey :P

done a little mix testing, and so far its a mix of dark sea blue and french blue (again VMA paint), it looks pretty good, not as bright as the first one (despite the flash) and not quite black

if you like i'll post some pics tomorrow, see how it compares

In the comics the colour has changed over the years.

I have comics where...
the uniform is black; arm, knee and shoulder pads yellow; boots and gloves green.
the uniform is blue; arm and shoulder pads yellow; knee pads, boots and gloves green.
the uniform is blue; shoulder pads yellow; arm and knee pads, boots and gloves green.

In other words the choice is pretty much yours. :D

im sitting here cleaning up my last order of judges, and i have one thing to say to everyone at mongoose!

THANK YOU!

thank you for still using metal when everyone else is going to cheap resin and calling it an improvement!

it has been years since i handled a metal model, and for anyone who knows just how much ive painted in the last 15 years, thats really saying something

i know its in my head, but dealing with metal, it really makes me feel like my money has gone somewhere, the weight of the model, hell i even miss the smell when i file it!

so thank you! thank you! THANK YOU!

did i mention thank you? :D

Personally, I'm using dark blue for leathers, and black for armour plate (such as Lawmasters, Holocaust armour, vehicles, etc).
