To be perfectly honest Ive never had a problem with boresighted G'Quans seeing as that one scene is the ONLY time to my knowledge we see it fire non boresight and Im perfectly happy to put that down to 'CG cockup' or 'it looked cool' syndrome. :P

kinda like the one time we saw a jpb looked cool ;-)

argh, now I'm back in the argument, truce, TRUCE!!!!

yep exactly like that ;) I personally would be quite happy for JP Bombs to be removed from the game but if they stay Id like to see them fixed :P

But anyway this is turning back into that OTHER thread so Ill leave it there :P

Perhaps. But I dont buy that, Mag Guns arent even beams anyway originally (yeah yeah I know B5Wars is not ACTA but B5Wars is far more credible where ship stats are concerned imho. JMS said so. And thats good enough for me :P)

Mag Gun is not a beam, it has the "Beam" trait for rules purposes but the fluff says it is a large metal slug. Hence interceptors can't stop it, and it can score multiple hits in the same way that a beam can. But it is not a beam.

Has JMS ever actually said anything about ACTA?

Yes, he didn't like it very much.

I like the Nova as well...mainly for the "lay a few broadsides into their timbers!" style.

I only wish the Nova model was scaled properly with the Omega. The current Nova seems too big...or perhaps the Omega seems too small.

Has anyone been using the new beam rules. We tried them out on the current ship stats and they seem to work fine. Although a SolarHawk only hit a Sho Kov once & it dodged. It was hilarious.
Apparently if you say when rolling " Be Heroes " Frazi's gank Solarhawks, Sho Kov dodge everything. " You can't see me" while waving hand across the table people fail stealth rolls. The Sho Kov died to a twinlink shot from a Guard hawk & it took out 4 Frazi's that turn. The Narn player forgot to say be heroes.
We did downgrade the Sho Kar beam from 3 to 2 AD with new beam rules. Thinking 3 was too much.

yes, we used new beam mechanics in a S+P second ed preview playtest, the batrep is around somewhere. Brakiri (being a race who needed a beam boost) and the abbai with some shield mechanics. the Avioki offers a wallop, and the new rules make the haltona a viable option for sure!

We found them quite good. Even been using hull 4 ships now. I think the new beam rules are going to work great.

You know, another thought for 2nd ED would be to go a bit more like VaS (Kinda like the horse following the cart, I know  ) with separate target numbers and armor numbers for the ships. Adds one more step, but would be far easier to illustrate the differences between little ships and big ships...

Just a thought..

Our group had thought of a similar thing. Could improve fighters life expectency as they could swarm a ship if it had low target number.

More positive stuff...

The G'Quan is pretty cool, but I was always a fan of the Vorchan. Sleek, sinister, cool.

It would be great for the ships from the telly to be the staples of a fleet.

Cheers
Mark
