Trial of Blood...when?

its two thirds of the way through the month...are we going to see this book anytime soon? or is it going to be delayed again?!? (for about the 8th time i think..as i believe it was originally scheduled for February of this year)....arrrgghh!!! why must you make me wait?!?!?!??!?!?!??!?!?!? WHY???????!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?! Man i like Conan ;)

I know. I wish they'd hurry (but I'd rather a good supplement be late than a bad supplement rushed out).

I'm either going to convert Age of Worms or play with Trial of Blood. I won't do both. If I've already started Worms, then I won't buy Trial.

Hi guys,

Trial of Blood is all printed, but there was a shipping issue from the printers themselves. It should be going out to distributors next week.

We had a bunch of Trial at GenCon, so I'm guessing that distributors will not be far behind.

And...I am extremely happy with the final result!!!

Great news - this is long overdue - an epic campaign for the Conan RPG. Can't wait to read it!

Satoris, would you be able to provide us a brief summary of the campaign hook(s) ?
I'm concluding an adventure and if I had the ability to plant the seeds of Trial of Blood it would be perfect.
I'm asking you this because I'll have to conclude the adventure before receiving my book (that I ordered 2 minutes ago).

Feel free to put a big spoiler warning and write in a tiny white font. :)

Thx,
W.

I'm still reading through the adventures so my opinion my change.

I'm just going to but a big SPOILER ALERT in case I go into to much detail on anything.

As expected the book itself is softcover with a B/W interior but no binding problems. I'v haven't noticed any editing errors so far with my read through about a 1/3 or the way through the book so far.

The campaign seems very conanequge to me. Saving women from a fate worse then death, cursed by evil magics ect..

The adventures themselves have plenty of small side encounters but there is time built in where additional encounters by the GM can be added. The PCs will also be traveling all of the lands, so a lot of the various source books could come into play.

This is personal preference, in general I enjoy the flavor text read to the PCs but it does have a tendency to tell the PCs what they are feeling sometimes. Not a big deal to me as I always reword such things into my own style anyways for constancy.

There is a neat concept of a prohcecy point system that tracks how the PCs are doing (secretly) from them. PC actions raise and lower this total with the final amount affecting the end of the adventure.. Various omens for different point totals can give a clue on how it is going to the PCs..

The amount of XP is calculated for everything, freeing GMs from the paperwork on the stock encounters. There is even suggested bonuses for good roleplaying. Also not everything ends in a fight which is always a nice change.

I had wish there was an small section at the start of each chapter on suggest PC level but that information is usually in the text(at least so far) and can be infered by the challenges so I'd just make a chart for it.

The main hook starts the PCs in Tarantia where the PCs are recruited by Pallantides for a mission by handling themselves well in an attempted robbery in the tavern they are in. When I run it, I'm going to run an intro adventure to get the PCs together (or have them start as a group) but your party shouldn't include types that refuse to work for a government figure. This can easily be reworked though if necessary for your campain.

All in all, it seems like well doen and well thought out so far.

darn..i was hoping for a hardcover book...i don't like bending the pages over and over again, which happens when i keep the book open in front of me during a game session. I liked the hardcover they used for the Drow War Complete Campaign .

Thanks for this. I'm interested in content.

Can the PCs be in the Aquilonian army?

Also, as you read, would you mind "delivering the goods" to give me an idea of where the campaign takes the PCs (with appropriate spoilers, of course).

It's level 1 to what?

Thx for the feedback.

I'm quiet happy as I plan to run Heretics in Tarantia next. It will be a nice intro before Trial of Blood.

I don't see any reason why they can't be in the army. They are recruited by the head of the Black Dragons after all and are unlikely to have a reputation that makes them well known at low levels. The GM can give the PCs a chance with meeting with King Conan early on so that might fit well with a story set in the the army.

The campaign suggests level 1 or 2 to start and by the end I would guess 9 or 10 but Bryan could say better.

The players start in Tarantia then travel to a mining town name Sicas in Aquilonian. From there it is back to the capital and then on to Tor in Nemidia. The book details what happened in the power vacuum after Conan Slew Lord Amalric.

From there the story takes a trip across the mainland of Hyboria to the western shores of Argos, specifically to an island of the coast.

After that they are directed to meet up with the Captain of the Indigo Storm which is currently docked in Messantia. Here the adventure will take place on the sea tracking down the location of a maiden. There is a neat tie-in where the PCs can learn that the captain was a deck-hand on the Tigress.

Then the adventure takes them to the Black Kingdoms where the PCs will dock at a village called Xobowa which in in Kushite I believe. From there they will have to travel upstream eventually leaving the river to travel on land in the deep jungle.

After returning from the deep jungle the PCs will travel along a caravan(and probably be in for a nasty surprise) the southern stygian border, where stygia meets Dafur, specifically looking for a lake Zuad. Here they will encounter Prince Durambe, a half-kushite half tlazitlan warlord that in the scenario mentions Conan almost killed during his time as a mercanry(I don't remember if this is from a story or not).

After that the PCs travel into Stygia itself to a ruin called Qarnak where th e final encounters will take place.

The campaign suggests...

Awesome! Thanks. That's exactly what I wanted to know about the adventure.

Now...hm... I'm trying to figure how to get my PCs, story-wise, from Zamora to being involved in Tarantia "missions".

And to do it in a non-clunky, believeable, and totally naturalisitc way...

Whelp, I've got the rest of my intro-campaign to figure it out. I think my PCs will be at least 3rd level, though (and probably higher) once I can get them there.

I like planning ahead, though.

The book looks great.
As my campaign takes place durting King Vilerus rule, I 'd like to know if Conan is a major actor of the plot or if he can easily replaced by another Aquilonian King, changing a few names here and there?
