Why are all of the time frames in Traveller assuming a 12 month year? 13x28 is 13 months plus a day. Yet it still says Mortgages and Maintenance and Crew Salaries must be paid every month. How do you guys square that math? Taking the total cost of the ship and dividing by 12,000 doesn't work. It does work if you divide by 13,000 though. Why have a system that tells the players do this 12 times a year, but a Calendar that has 13 months in a year? (ps - I know I can't spell "calander" lolz)

Annual maintenance takes a month. IMTU, I don't charge them a mortgage for those four weeks. Crew is on unpaid leave... unless you are nice and pay them. My players do.

I always assume the 13x28 +1 day year. And as Arkathan said, the one month for Annual Maintenance is traditionally granted as a Mortgage-forgiveness as a courtesy in the loan repayment contract.

Still have to pay your crew 13 times a year. All of the in game excuses that We can come up with for a poorly designed payment period, won't change that. lol Or that landlord that you rent a place in the starport from. lol Or the dealership where you bought your Grav ATV

They just need to officially change it to 13 periods per year in their math. It actually makes the mortgage payments and monthly maintenance cheaper.

Use the Vargr one.

They only need to know when the next full moon is.

Let's see . . .

According to the wiki and sources:
  • Lair has one small moon about the size of Luna at 60 diameters distance (same distance as Terra-Luna) . . .
    • OK that works and makes sense - the Ancients were planning things . . .
  • Lair has 2 small planetoid moons at 2 and 4 diameters distance . . .
    • I bet that messes with them . . . :p

Hmmmm,

In Fantasy Grounds you can set multiple moons up with varying rotations and orbits.
Make a chart using WBH data to set what you see from the planet.
Once the math is done is easy to set up the extension and change out values as needed.
There is already a Traveller standard calendar built in.

Would work well as long as the group is in one system for a few sessions.

Of course details that would be obnoxious to handle without a VTT.
