Traveller's many lines from Mongoose Pub

Mongoose
Hello everyone,

Ok we all know that Traveller engine seems to be doing rather well for Mongoose Pub, and that they have many different lines designed using that same game mechanics game engine style.

Now case in point they seem to be putting out alot of stuff for the Judges Dread line currently. Now I personally own the core Judge Dread book, and have Pre-Ordered Strontium Dog that is also in that line but I also bought it for the Magic system in there for use with Traveller. Now I also bought Flynn's book as well too on Magic too.

So for me that leaves (3) JD products I have not pre-ordered yet: Bad Moon Rising (already out), Bounties & Warrents, and Democracy Falls. Now I plan on getting the Judge's Handbook in the future but am not so sure on the other missed three I listed above. Now I buy everything Traveller and have already per-ordered the Referee's Screen (already out), Alein Module 2: Vargr, and Supplement 6: Military Vehicles. I have already purchased all the other released books for Traveller. The next Traveller products I would purchase are: Traveller Character Pack and Supplement 7 1001 Characters. I guess I will also need to purchase the two map packs as well too, just to be complete

So my question is why so heavy of the Judge Dread line for Traveller? What about the Starship Troopers line? Ar there no more planned books for either Hammer Slammers or B5? Are there any other lines that will also be added too?

My guess would be,

With JD as there was a lot of material for the older edition it makes sense why they would give it a big support release program.
Also with the Rebellion connections and them owning JD they have a larger pool to access with materials.

With Starship Troopers and Babylon 5, IIRC both of these have run out of Mongoose's license and so no longer a going concern.

SD being a new product line we can expect a rolling release of products.

Rog.

I can't speak for Mongoose. But, when saw the Judge Dredd books in Forbidden Planet, I *had* to buy them. One advantage of having multiple Traveller Universes is that you could run Traveller games in one universe and be a player in a different Traveller universe - effectively reducing the incidence of referee burn-out!

I, too, would liike to see some Hammer's Slammers books.

Minor correction, Bounties & Warrants is Strontium Dog not Judge Dredd.

Oh as I said I have Pre-Ordered Strontium Dog because of the magic system that Mongoose Pub has come up with for inclusion for Traveller. Now I have never heard of the name before and thought it to be apart of Judge Dread line. I guess I will just have to collect the rest of the lines just to have it all for my Traveller library. I am trying to buy all of the ,ain line Mongoose Pub products and related lines for Traveller, as well as pick up as maany 3rd party Traveller based "printed" products that I can as well too.

Strontium Dog is another story from the 2000AD comic, which also spawned Judge Dredd, Nemesis the Warlock, and Rogue Trooper. I don't think they're all the same universe, but it's been a long time since I read 2000AD.

Further info on 2000AD is available here (gah, stupid brackets in the URL for the 2000AD wiki page are screwing up the direct link. Have a shortened link instead: http://tinyurl.com/ywyrwq )

P.S. Borag Thungg, Earthlets! 8)

Just judging purely from the Traveller versions of Judge Dredd and Strontium Dog they aren't connected, although there is mention of dimensional crossover between the two.

Well I pre-ordered it anyway, and when it comes out latter this month hopefully then I will read it from cover to cover and glean from it what ever I can for addition to my own Traveller campaign. Plus my Library can always need a few more books.

Judgment Day. Sabbat. Zombies everywhere.

Grud snecking wept. Anyone fancy running that campaign? :D

On another note, one thing does connect JD and SD: they're both the creations of John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra.

As for Rogue Trooper, that's Gerry Finley-Day's creation and Nemesis the Warlock would be Pat Mills', IIRC.

Credo!

(I used to love Nemesis the Warlock :) )

And Nemesis is a game I have wanted to do for about 7 years now! Its time will come, but we have one more 2000AD property planned first (due out later next year).

Bradley the Sprog.

The artist who drew Bradley did Strontium Sprog... err, Dog... for a while.

Oooh.

ABC Warriors?

Mek-Quake do Big Job on little robot...

Hm, we've had Dredd, and Strontium Dog... That really leaves Johnny Alpha, Rogue Trooper and Nemesis from the SF side, or maybe Slaine? (I thought there was a Slaine one already, done by someone else?)

It's most likely going to be ABC Warriors. Matt's kinda already let that 'bot out of the box.

Slaine's been done by the 'goose. Twice.
