Traveller Release Schedule 2024

With regard to the starship operators handbook, I'm very much looking forward to this. What I particularly want, however, is more game mechanics and procedures along the lines of the tasks and activities at the end of the DGP book. I'd love to see an expansion of that. I'm far less interested in tons of waffle and technobabble about how jump drives and anti-gravity systems supposedly work.
As someone who only occasionally uses game rules, my interests are mostly the opposite, but knowing what skills are used where and what sort of modifiers are involved really helps me ignore the rules in an officialish way, so I guess I'm hoping for both.

Yeah, if there were anything that should be both player and ref facing, it should be the new SOM. Rules and fluff for the ref, mechanics and fluff for the players. Legal ways to throw complications and banes at the players, legal ways for them to overcome them and do their own mods to the ship. Make the ship a character in their game.

I am a bit of both. The background technobabble to establish sort of what is possible or not possible within the constraints of known physics, and rules for then some possible things players might do if they are desperate and want to jury-rig or otherwise push the limits of the ship in an emergency.

Not possible with known physics:
jump drive
maneuver drive
artificial gravity
acceleration compensators
null grav modules
meson technology
damper technology
black globes
ignoring thermodynamics
All of the above require handwavium and consistency.

China can not impose its rules on the USA,,,

So those other polities need not trade with the Third Imperium. They certainly do not need to buy transponders from them.

There are global maritime codes, and things like transponders on IRL surface ships are being messed with now, because they carry them by those codes, in order to attempt end runs around things like oil sanctions.
We are also typing to each other on a globally agreed upon system.
Do occasional parties hack or otherwise try to neglect such protocols? Sure, but the majority want to perform in compliance for their own legitimacy and mutual prosperity as supported by the integrity of those systems.
Translate those precedents to a galaxy.
I'm at a loss how these arguments happen on a discussion of a release schedule.

Every thread goes off topic, some more than most.
This one gets back to the point every time there is an official announcement, and you don't have to read the whole thread to get to it.
I personally like that the admins and mods are not so draconic and anti-free speech as to make thread drift verboten.

Since the only post that is "on topic" is the first one that keeps getting edited as the situation changes, there's no point in getting overly worried about spin off discussions.

So it seems to me that there’s going to be a problem with FFW. Specifically thanks to the vehicle handbook. The VH has several issues but I would say the biggest as far as FFW is Fusion power plants. First off I’m not sure why the author would give them the insane duration and treated them like fission power plants but also the fact that there’s no improvements based on tech levels beyond TL 10. This is also the main reason that the imperial tanks and APC are oversized. Even half the vehicles in the Field catalog don’t follow the design rules in the VH. I’m hoping that the FFW products take the fixes I hope have been done to the VH fixings the many issues that product has

Hint get Geir to write it I think he understands the game better than anyone else, just my opinion

I don't know about that, but I did design Striker vehicles with a hand-me-down Texas Instruments calculator (no I don't remember the model, but the display was red) and a pad of half-sized orange paper my dad got from some vendor.
