Interesting. I saw the DARPA "ExAcTO" project requests for proposal - hadn't seen that someone had actually submitted a design.
It's certainly a more effective option (just beam-ride the rifle's laser designator), but it isn't half going to be a more costly option; given the costs of GPS-guided artillery rounds I can't imagine a clip of those things will be cheap!
It'll also need a dedicated weapon - smoothbore and capable of handling such long rounds.
Tracking Point isn't designed for the same thing - it's more meant for 500-600 metre range shots 'point and click' for someone who's not exactly a marksman, rather than making a professional sniper better at mile-plus ranges.
