Think we'll see the Symbiot and Vau?

We must also remember that, although the League will train ALL pilots in the known universe what they know, they will not teach them everything the League knows. The League is not only the most technologically advanced but also the most skilled pilots. Non of the League are press ganged into employment, like the Nobles would do. The Charioteers should be by far a minimum of 5 Crew Quality and Musters would be their only marines on board, gotta be elites at the very least. I'm of the firm opinion that the League could have access to Special Actions unlike the rest of the realm or at the least a bonus to the CQC of each Special Action. I imagine they will also be more expensive than the rest of the fleets available, with the exception of the Vau. And based on what the guys at Mongoose have been doing, ITS GONNA BE AMAZING :D

Just to let you know, we have some pretty sexy rules in place for the League (they really can do things other fleets can't, though they also have to have a reason to fight - more on that later) that are due to go to playtest.

Let us get Fleets under our belts and then we'll start some previews for the League.

.

Please I beg you, help me. Send the warships of the league to aid me.
My World is threatened, my people suffer beneath the boots of barbarian raiders, I do not have the ships or troops to fight back. Aid me, rescue my people from slavery.

"Yawn"

Oh all right then, I have lots of money, I'll pay.

"Ka-Cching. That you for reregistering with the League military support program, our consultants will be in touch as soon as your money has been deposited"

Well the Reeves do have good loan terms. Just do not default on the loan, you do not want their Debt Collectors turning up. Also remember that dispossed people and POW's are fair game for the Muster slavers.

The question would be why isn't the Lord of the Fief protecting his vassals from the Barbarian Raiders?

True about the slaves.

Those evil Barbarian Raiders don't just hit the one world at a time, they are hitting several.

The regional Lord has to focus his fleet strength on the most important worlds while negotiating with his House and neighbours for reinforcements without having to make too many concessions.

The less important worlds are left to fend for themselves, unless they can buy support or make themselves important enough for the Lord to aid them.

More worlds than fleets in the Faded Suns, a Lord or house has to carefully allocate those scarce resources where they do the most good, sorry if your world isn’t important enough to warrant defence right now.

All the best.

Though in Fading Suns Universe every World has a standing Jump Gate interdiction / Customs / Guard ships.

Each House has it's Leader be it Princess Victoria Hawkwood, Prince Hyram Decados, Prince Juan Jacobi Nelson Eduardo de Aragon, Flavius Li Halan or Duke Hakim Al-Malik. Then below them they have the Planetary Dukes, below them all the other little Nobles.

Each House has a standing House Fleet. Then each planet with in the Houses Fief will have Planet Fleets.

Also looking at the Jump Web the Vuldrok can only go via Leminkainen bottle necking there. The Kurgan get bottle necked at Vera Cruz. Each of these systems will have a fairly sizeable (for Fading Suns) Jump Gate Fleet.

The "Barbarians" would not have enough resources to attack more than 1 system. If they are lucky enough to have Known World Jump Keys and the Jump Gate reset after they come through is quick enough. Then they will be sitting ducks for the interdiction ships whilst they calculate and wait for the Jump Key to activate the Jump Gate again.

Attacking individual installations / planets with the system yes. Though places like Research Stations and Mining Operations are more than likely be League owned and run anyway, so they would have a Muster protection.

The Vuldrok are more likely to go on quick pilliging raids than the Kurgan. I can see local help needed for these stray raiders.

Who says those Barbarian raiders are actually those Barbarians from the other side of the Jump gates.

Barbarian raiders covers such a wide range of people and is so handy for covering up a little inter house raiding

Besides which if it was so hard for the barbarians to launch raids no one would be afraid of them which isn’t the case. Beware the Barbarians, beware the Aliens, beware the raiders and slavers who come from the darkness. Say a prayer to mother church to protect you from the raids.

Which may happen once every ten or twenty years because the only way they can reach you is via a bottleneck gate packed with warships. Not so scary that way.

Yes the house lords have fleets, and the systems have fleets. But no one has enough ships to be strong everywhere. If a house or clan or Barbarian nation has enough ships to protect every world from attack they also have enough ships to overwhelm the defences on a world or three on a raid

Hence hiring mercenaries to defend your world when you beloved house lord has send his forces to defend the more important and valuable worlds and you are left with a dozen fighters and two frigates plus a few armed freighters.

If every house is so powerful that they can defend every world with a fleet strong enough not to need help the whole war game goes to pot.

Shadows generally work well contrary to Minbari but conversely Vorlons can be hit by Centauri / Dilgar due to sheer allowance of firepower

As a former Vorlon player, I can say that I did not have a problem smashing through Centauri.
Or anyone else except for the Shadows. All I had to do was figure out which opposing ship was the biggest threat and burn it out of the sky with Lightning Cannons. It just so happens that the Shadows were resilient enough to deal with that kind of BS and had weapons just as nasty as the Lightning Cannon.

Both groups of Ancients were considered underpowered by the ACTA:B5 community at the time...

... I stopped playing Vorlons because games ceased to be fun.

So the aliens from FS should work just fine and might actually be the thing that gets me to play Noble Armada (none of the fleets particularly appeal to me at the moment...).
