Tell ya why I think not. They do not make a 1/64 line, or even a 1/60 line. That would mean a complete retooling for a small market.

Much more likely a computer firm. But, time will tell. Until then it is just fun to speculate.

They've already done lines for 1/32 and 1/48. I don't see why they would not want to do a 1/64 line featuring vehicles and soldiers of the near future. Right now their 1/72 line only represents men and vehicles of the 90s.

Thier 1/72 line is almost the same size as the mongoose stuff too. My FOV abrams is almost the exact same size...

Yep, I have an M1 Platoon and T-72 Platoon all from Forces of Valor. They are real close to the Mongoose scale. I also find it interesting that FOV have their own rule set. Thats why I think they are a strong possibility. Also, why would Mongoose contact Corgi? They are a diecast company. That tells me they are looking at other diecast and modeling companies. Forces of Valor is my pick!

And we would fit FOV's 'target audience' as well.

But does everyone have it in their house already? I don't, I maybe in the minority though.

I don't use the stuff either. That said, I can't see what the hold up would be if it was a model company such as FOV. So, I'll discount that as not a option. Seems there is a license involved, which would tie up the works with lawyers, thus my reasoning that it is a Computer company with many licensed software products.

Wow, just noticed, this is a very long thread! Obviously there is alot of interest in this game to go on and grow. Its good to see the interest and love of the game. Its also refreshing to see Matt, the head honcho, doing his best to keep us informed. I look forward to the future of the game!

My pick: Forces of Valor

HEy what about Transformers, aren't they Sony ? Already got robot types with the fourth too. :?:
That would go to their subsidiary, WizKids.

Well, Hasbro is currently doing a Transformers game, through their subsidiary, Wizards of the Coast. I don't think WizKids is really in that picture.

I could see WizKids as a manufacturing partner for Evo products: similar scale, decent quality, manufacturing experience all show up with them. And I certainly own a few of their products :D . But I thought we already knew the unnamed partner wasn't a game company, which rules WK out. So I'm in the Corgi/FoV/some other model company camp.

Where did you get that idea?

I wasn't sure, so I went back and found the quote that made me think along these lines:

"Battlefield Evolution has attracted a great deal of attention, and not just within the hobby games market. We were quietly tapped on the shoulder a while ago by a company far, far larger than us." (Matthew Sprange, S&P 47, p 65)

Looking back, I may have just been conflating those two sentences too much. I assumed that the "far, far larger" company was "not ... within the hobby games market", but that is not explicitly stated.

Xorrandor, I too would draw a similar conclusion as you did upon reading that. :)

Well a far larger company compared to Mongoose I assume.

Oh, sure, but I don't know how big a company Mongoose is (quantitatively) anyway. I was more interested in the outside the hobby games industry part, where the most obvious play would be someone who is manufacturing figures (where Mongoose is having trouble), but doesn't have their own rules (because they aren't a hobby game company). I occasionally have to deal with people talking around the edges of NDAs, and I guess my antennae may have gotten a little too twitchy over some of the language is all.

Freudian slip. I meant WOTC and typed the wrong "wiz" :D

ain't Wizards Hasbro these days?

Wizards of the Coast (WOTC) was bought by Hasbro. They did that of course due to Magic, the Gathering.

Wizkids is the originator of the "Clix" miniatures and was founded by Jordan Wiseman, late of the old FASA. He acquired his spending money to set up Wizkids from Microsoft, who licensed MechWarrior (Battletech) for the Xbox.

Funny thing, with me being in the relative "outback" of U.S. wargaming in the Pacific Northwest that Wizkids and WOTC are both in my "neck of the woods".

There are FOV rules? I need to go search for those...
