My guess all along has been Corgi. We'll see eventually "who" the mystery company is. Until then, we're waiting along with Matt. :)

We have actually spoken to Corgi in the past - by all accounts, they are not doing so well these days, so we suggested they could sell more models if a game was tied to their products. Went nowhere. Tried the same with Lego (how cool would that be? :)), but we are such a tiny, tiny speck compared to their market!

HA! There goes the Corgi theory! Guess this makes my Games Workshop theory a bit more plausable

Another theory - Soldier of Fortune Magazine!

I'm thinking bigger...

Something most BFE users have. Say, a computer? Thus maybe a company that makes software? (think BIG)

Just another hairbrained theory to add to the discussion.

That said, I'm fine with waiting. I just hope it is worth the wait.

demonllamma said it very well.
Matt deserves a lot of respect for his willingness to talk to people here on the forum (not just this one either) and mongoose as a whole is a very good company,
i reckon much of the "delays" etc comes from their eagerness to start talking about stuff a little early, other companies might be waiting until they have all their stuff on hand before talking about it..

I should add that i find mongooses approach better and more exciting but i'm still bummed out that i don't have a slingshot yet;)

As for the third party, if corgi is out then i just lost £10

Course there's always that OTHER prepainted model maker - Forces of Valor? Maybe this would be a way for them to introduce a 1/64 line OR if Mongoose were slightly evil and uncaring, a way for Mongoose to turn BF EVO into 1/72 scale!

Not everyone has their products in their home.

My guess is Sony or Microsoft.

Honestly dude, I don't think either of those two feel WE (people who play TT wargames) are their target audience EVEN IF we actually are. It sounds like the mystery party's products are pretty close or similar to what Mongoose produces.

as for you armchair, 40k is an awful game, has been since 3rd ed passed away. if you're lookin' for other games, you could do worse than check out VaS :p

Well I have been becoming interested in this 'dead' game called Mutant Chronicles Warzone as well, only because it has 40k's futuristic gothicness but waaay more interesting fluff and factions IMO.

Ah, my strategy is beginning to work. If we can get Matt to tell us who it isn't, we are closer to the answer and Matt isn't violating the NDA.

It's not the Care Bears either, if that helps any. . .

Het Matt would listing EVERY company that its not violate the NDA ? :P

Isn't Care Bears Hasbro ? Can we cross Hasbro off the list ?
What about Smurf Evo.

Thanks Matt. That was going to be my next guess.

As for me, I can wait until you get your communication. That should be an interesting day. :D

Yep, my thinking also. :D

Forces of valor is my vote.

Tell ya why I think not. They do not make a 1/64 line, or even a 1/60 line. That would mean a complete retooling for a small market.

Much more likely a computer firm. But, time will tell. Until then it is just fun to speculate.

They've already done lines for 1/32 and 1/48. I don't see why they would not want to do a 1/64 line featuring vehicles and soldiers of the near future. Right now their 1/72 line only represents men and vehicles of the 90s.

Well that sucks. I wanted to field a modern care bear force against those pesky insurgents (I know they aren't really insurgents).

As for my silly guess, I'm thinking Milton Bradley. That guy from Monopoly would be wicked with a submachine gun.

Thier 1/72 line is almost the same size as the mongoose stuff too. My FOV abrams is almost the exact same size...
