The War Store

Mongoose
Has anyone noticed that Neal has pulled all of the ACTA line? Judging from his past communications, it seems he hasn't got any kind of stock in and isn't taking any more orders.

So far, in my area that makes:

Magic Lilly Pad: can sometimes get orders in once every 3-4 months.

Imperial Outpost: cannot order anything because ACD and Alliance, two of the biggest distributors in the US, have them all out of stock.

The War Store: not taking orders

Game Nightz: not taking orders.

I searched online and found something called Leisure Games, but they don't have a list of stock, so I'm not sure if they have any or not.

I'm starting to not want to play anymore. It's too much effort just to be able to compete.

I have been emailing Neal for the past two weeks about ACTA and he told me on Friday that he was probably going to pull the whole line off the web site because his distributors had no product.

When I asked him if the situation had improved he wrote the following:

"Nothing really.

I am pretty well set to remove Bab5 from the site"

Previously he had mentioned that it was "impossible" to get anything in because all of his souces had gotten tired of dealing with Mongoose and did not want to carry thier product.

He wrote on his board the following:

"So Mongoose decides to change their terms to their distributors on Babylon 5. Swell....

The distributors decide they dont like the new terms and respond to Mongoose in a rather clear and emphatic way - they send back all their BAB5 stock. Double swell....

BAB5 stuff starts to disappear from distributors shelves and the entries start coming out of the distributors catalogs. No one tells me that the distributors are getting out of the product, instead I just figure Mongoose is pruning old skus. My head is starting to swell...

Anyway, I am now working with the one distributor who wants to try to keep BAB5 in stock, except they dont have much stock. They are waiting on Mongoose to get more stock to them. It is a mess.

On all BAB5 orders -- we are doing our very best to get this stuff in. But right now, BAB5 orders are facing delays. Hopefully it will clear up before the end of the month. "

I am pretty depressed.

You could try FRP Games. They're about the only place I've heard people having much luck with, here on the West Coast
http://www.frpgames.com/

They've been good so far as I know. My latest order has run into a snafu(I need to call them and figure it out) but i believe its thier own rather than MGP's. They are even getting G'Vrahns in stock(backordered currently as so many Narn Players want them)..

I've still got plenty of Mongoose stock, and whilst I know the US/UK exchange rate sucks, if you're desparate then I can supply you.

I and several of the other guys in our group have been dealing with FRP, and they do deal with MGP directly. They have been able to fill everything that we have wanted. It helps that the owner likes to play Bab 5. New stuff has some wait, but with the production problems taken care of , the new stuff should be easier to get. I have gotten my Drakh carrier and one other guy has gotten some of his Narn new ships. Iam not an employee of FRP, it is just hard to find hobby shops that are carrying the Bab5 stuff.

I just went to make an order on the warstore and could not make it then I come to this forum and see this wow what is going on here. Is this an issue with MGP or the distributers???

The store where I shop store has orderd a bundle, (Gamestore / Belgium)

It was sent in two boxes.

UP"frigin"S lost one of them... And it was the one with aditional cronos and the late EA-box I badly need... Suffice to say CRAP!!!

And UPS had the balls to send a bill for the schipping of the TWO boxes... :?

This site is clearing out alot of stuff and has some B5 stuff at 50% off, they are in England so the rate is not great for us U.S. guys, but at 50% off who can complain. Just thought I would share.

I just got a first edition Drahk fleet box.

This really sucks. I too have been working with Neal at the War Store. This is the email I got from him yesterday:

"I officially give up. Everything we have instock is going on
clearance this weekend, and I am done with Mongoose for now."

The War Store has been my primary supplier for years. He is an excellent barometer of the gaming world. This bodes ill for Mongoose in the US, no doubt about it.

The thing I have learned lately is that just because a site lists something as "in stock" does not mean it is physically located at that location. War Store was the only place I'd managed to get some stuff from lately. I have ordered twice through FRP and the only stuff I got was the ebay purchases I made. I ordered some older Narn stuff a month ago and nothing but excuses so far. Both they and war Store showed all the B5 stuff "in stock" and only after I order it and PAY for it, do I get told that there are problems with distribution and this whole song and dance.

Mongoose, I don't know what the heck is going on, but this is ridiculous! I've no local source of figures and the Internet is the only place I can get anything. If you want customers to play your game, the customer has to be able to get the product in their hands.

Really upset right now with this whole situation. :(

Yeah, what he said. I also have no local store that can get anything in B5, I've special ordered and after a few week of getting the distributor run around, all 4 of them have refunded my money and offered an appology.

As a new B5 player getting back into wargames after quite a few years off, go figure I'd pick the one tha thas no stock anywhwere. The War Store, I believe, has been one of the best trend trackers for quite some time, and if he's officially given up, then the situation is indeed grim.

My experiences with FRP from Ebay have been good, but anything else, same song and dance. I did get an email the other day saying that FRP has just worked a MAJOR deal for Mongoose in general, and B5 specifically, but most of my orders from the web page are still "backorder".

I have ordered direct from Mongoose USA, and I do get delivery in about a week. But if it's a multi part mini, I have yet to get all of the parts first delivery!!!!! I've had to beat the Mongoose email chain to death to elevate this fact, and hopefully I'll get my ships flying in the next week or so, complete.

So much for metal minis. My group has pretty much given up on them, and we're using paper counters with pictures, scaled to the "unofficial official" base sizes.

Heck, even B5 ACTA Ebay auctions I'm in the habit now of sending an email to see if the item offered is "real stock" or "virtual".

I notice that Wargames Workshop has pulled their ACTA miniatures too. In the words of the Drazi, "this is bad... this is very bad..." :(

but conversely, for the UK, Hobbybox has ACTA back online, and ID is due an order, that "may" see them back online too.

Mine are definitely back online, just spent part of this afternoon updating the stock list to take account of what I sold at Warfare!

By the way, thanks to everyone who attended Warfare and bought bits from me, very good weekend and nice to chat to so many ACTA players.

I guess Mongoose wants to be a UK only company. I'm happy for you guys who can get product - hopefully there are enough of you to keep the company alive while it considers supporting overseas markets. Maybe when they come back, there'll be new players around because we old ones are getting a little tired of this. WARMACHINE looks cool....

Hobbybox,

I noticed that you're out of everything that I want with the exception of a few. Are you getting regular restock now? The way this is going, you may be the only one left.

It definitely seems I am not the only one thinking this way. I smell a ship sinking, and it's been doing this for a while according to other people I know.

Mongoose, seriously. Can you please come straight with us? We are you consumers, we are concerned. Distributors can lie all they want, what do they care? But you? We need to know answers, and we need to know if this is temporary or not. I can't speak for everyone, but I know that I feel betrayed after an announcement that everyone will be getting restocked in a week or two. Here it is, a week or two later and, not only has no one got restocks, everyone is pulling out.

Were these "restocks" just all the stuff people sent back to you? I am admittedly frustrated, annoyed, and upset because I am getting the impression that you aren't doing anything and trying to appease us with telling us what we want to hear.
