The War Store

Maybe late to the party on this one, but I did want to chime in that I did place an order from Mongoose recently and got it no problems right on time (an EA Crusade Fleet box plus extras).

In addition my order was short a few pieces and just today I received the replacements, also in what I would call a very speedy fashion and with no hassles. (In fact, Mongoose has always been great about replacing missing/broken parts)

I'd say the quality in the casts was very good. Still some hiccups in a few of the starfuries but much improved from before.

CTA is the new Wii !! ;)

Ordering from Mongoose is all nice and all, (even though there are still snafus with parts and quality) but until it's in the shops, it's underground.

So.. Back to the Wii analogy.. the Wii is underground? I'd say it's doing pretty well considering a year later I still can't get one without resorting to eBay.

Regardless, I think Matt did an excellent job answering everyones concerns.

Excellent, when the price goes up to over £1000, I might sell mine ;)

Yeah, but that doesn't help people get minis, does it?

We've always been down with the Street. . .

j.,

Thank you for illustrating my point with a very timely example

And why is "....short a few pieces...." acceptable? My bother and I have placed 4 orders in as many months (for a combined total of a little over $375). Not 1, NOT 1 single order has been complete as far as any given mini is concerned. In fact, stuff that would normally be boxed in the store is shipped in clear plastic baggies in a bubble padded envelope! I mean, it's a clear plastic bag, people, WHY isn't the dude putting the stuff in the bag checking the inventory of parts? Who's QCing the final envelope stuffing? What was the packer's number or whatever in the box of stuff that you were missing?

If you can't afford to pack it right the first time, how can you ever afford to pay for re doing it after the customer has to go for replacements?

Would you accept this from your car manufacturer? Food? Computer? Shampoo?

Call it growing pains, call it staff in need of training, call it processes out of control, call it whatever you will, most of us call it unacceptable that the customer has to chase the seller to constantly make it right!

And in the end, all we really want is the stuff that we've paid for, fairly, and in good faith, delivered to us in a timely manner, complete, and of acceptable quality

OBTW: In case you missed it, of the 4 possibles, Matt discounted #1, but also did not choose #2, #3, #4, or posit one of his own. Sometimes much is said in what is not said.
Rotational molding of metal minis is as much an art as it is a science, I'll grant you that, but with SO MANY quality castings available, there's gotta be nothing new to learn. Thus, option #4.

You are not wrong, and there are several reasons why things like this are happening at the moment.

However, I promise you, this is being given the very highest level of priority at the moment, and steps are already being taken.

Incidently, just wanted to go on record here that I'm not trying to stir the pot in a negative way, just trying to understand myself what's happening with my favorite game, and in so doing, help others articulate the questions that they may have as well. I feel bad that my initial listing post may have been percieved in tone as attacking and acusatory, when I intended exactally the opposite, hoping to convey a sense of frustration in the informationa and product vacuum.

I like B5 ACTA. I've even gone back and bought several of the first generation fleet books, just for the background information and the pretty pictures. And some AOG stuff. My Ebay-fu is very strong

Again, for the record, every dealing that I've had through email with MGP and a Mr. Alexander Fennell (whoever he is and however he fits into the mix) have been direct, cordial, and timely.

you should locate a warehouse in my loft, I would pack and distribute brilliantly . . .

see I keep offering myservices, but no-one is interested!!

I'm in the states and would be happy to help with getting the minis out as well...all I'd ask in payment is minis :)

I agree that it is a big deal to lose thewarstore. Neal and his crew are top notch and I've never been dis-satisfied with them. His sale info makes it clear he would love to restock the stuff when/if everything gets back under control. Obviously, the sooner, the better. I'm glad to get some stuff on sale, but I'd rather it be regularly stocked and not just a one-time fire sale. (Although my Narns are now VERY happy with their new additions)

I'm glad Matt stopped by and I'm very happy that the game is selling so well and hopefully this is just a rough patch that we can get through. B5 has always, around here, been a "small" game. Small games here tend to die slow and painful deaths as the masses return to their Magic cards and GW figures. WarMachine and Hordes were going gangbusters for a while but now there is just a small core group and most of the guys have gone back to their "old familiar" GW games. Me, I'm trhe self-styled Maverick Gamer of the area. I play B5 and Star Trek CCG and have never played 40k and don't want to and I've only ever played one game of Magic and found it wanting. I tend to suport the "small" games as best I can.

That said, I'm supopsed to do a demo on Sunday for B5. My faith in Mongoose has been shaken, because what happens if people really like it and I tell them to buy some and they can't. these would be new players who can't get the minis because of this snafu. Yes, counters are fine and all, but these are minis gamers who want to push minis on a table. If I can't get them to a source of minis, they will ignore it and spend their money on GW stuff.

Matt, hopefully you guys can get stuff worked out and can get with Nel and his folks to get the game back in stock.

Best wishes and HJappy Thanksgiving to those in the states.

Chris

I would hire you, hiffano. For what, I'm not sure.

mrsprange, I thank you for replying. I, like most of you, work in customer service. We all know the complaints and the issues and what we try to do to fix them.

I personally work in telecommunications, as a supervisor for technical support. There is nothing more frustrating then telling a customer the same exact thing he's been told 4 other times, but trying to convince him that, since you're the one dealing with it, it'll get done. You know the ball has been dropped before, lots of other times, for stupid reasons.

The reason I bring this up is, mrsprange, what you say is uplifting and instills hope... but it's been said before. A few times before. We are all happy to know that steps are being taken, and that some people may see these changes... but what about the rest of us?

What is your target completion date for restocking ACD/Alliance?

Will you be working with Neal to answer his concerns and try to get him to stock ACTA?

How can my two game stores, trying to get orders through, get what their customers want? And by that, I am looking for something other than an obscure e-mail address that no one monitors. If there is an agent who does monitor his e-mail address that can handle my LGS' issues, and inside of a week or two, who can they contact and how? I can provide you the information on my LGS if you would like them. I am doing this for more than just myself.

Will you tell us what models are ACTUALLY available? And if they are not, instead of letting us select one for purchase (ie: Psi Corps Mothership, Neroon War Cruiser, Ka'Bin'Tak), tell us when the street date for the ships are.

I know my questions are specific, and I know you may not answer those off the top of your head, but please... I know I am not the only one asking these. I would think it would be very reasonable to want to know an answer to these questions within a week from now.

Again, thank you for your time mrsprange. Thank you for letting us all know you are concerned about our feelings and issues.

Hints about "new counters" being "something special" (read, replacement for metal minis)

And this is the point where we give up.

We are looking at a counters project _only_ because you guys asked for them. On the other hand, if their existence serves to confuse the issue of miniatures, it is an easy one to cancel. . .

With all due respect DON'T YOU DARE!!!

Does anyone know how (if possible) to get a refund from MGP? I ordered a couple of Olympus blisters a few months ago.

First it was out of stock, then it was lost in the mail. Russ said he sent me some replacements a month ago. Still no sign of it.

Two incidents are enough. Whatever the reason, the fact is I dont have a single Olympus.

You should contact Sales@mongoose and ask for your refund if that is what you want.

If demand is eating up all the minis, where are they going? No one seems to have any.

Oh, and does anyone have a B5wars Wars of the Ancients book? I'd like to get one but cant find one anywhere. Even a PDF would be nice.

Thanks. After reading msprange's post in general discussion, I think I'll give it some more time. It would appear that I'm not alone.

But have you ever done it before? Did they take you seriously? I mean since they sent it via regular airmail, there is no tracking number, records, etc, plus postal service in my country kinda... well, stink.

can't say i have but I wouldn't expect you to have troublewith it.

If you're referring to the overpaid USPS, then there is no tracking number, but more of a delivery confirmation number. If you pay almost two dollars for it, they will let you know when the package was delivered, about nine hours after it was actually dropped off.
