The perfect Conan gaming room...

Yeah, miniatures are a must. Digital token just seem too... digital. the idea of using MapTool (which I've never seen before) with a projector an figurines sounds ideal.

I just ordered a replacement bulb for my projector. Very excited.

True dat. That's another great thing about MT. You can use the top-down/miniature method for your tabletop games, and the digital tokens for your online games. Either way, you can use the same tool in basically the same way. 8)

Thanks to my buddy Orchard at the MT forums, I now have a link for the thread on creating 3D tabletop maps.

This is a really cool application of Maptools!

You rock.

Oh pshawww..... I'm just the messenger here. I mean, it's true, I do rock, and thanks for saying so. But in this case, it was a matter of being lucky enough to remember seeing a thread relevant to another thread. But yes, I exude "rockness". :P

All kidding aside, wyrmwood's set up is awesome and inspiring. It's definitely tilting me towards setting up a dedicated gaming room here and going with the top-down projector method, instead of using my living room and plasma TV. The combination of that and some of the ideas that flatscan has gotten both here and at RPGNet are really making me want to get off my butt and create a kick-butt gaming room! :)

Do it! You owe it to yourself and your players. We can swap pics of the rooms later.

Only on eBay. I guess I better buy mine now as they may not have any left by the time the rest of the board gets theirs.

If you look under the image their is two options for two different sized Wallpapers I linked the main page for those that wanted to choose which of the Wallpapers they wanted.

1024x768
then
1920x1200

if you click on one of them and it doesn't make the bigger picture right click the image and click view image and then it will.

There's no Conan styled room without some lascivious Brythunian lass... But they're becoming pretty hard to find, these days...

Heh, somebody on rpg.net suggested (obligatory warning of adult content ahead, the following link is definitely not safe for work) Real Dolls. Dress it up and chain it to a wall. But those things creep me right the hell out. :?

To each their own, I guess. But I was thinking it might be fun to have some of those automatons they use for haunted houses on the wall, chained up like prisoners in a dungeon. Imagine using them for the first time on your group at a tense moment in the story, having them spring to life at just the right moment! I imagine much soda being spilled! 8)

LOL. Yeah, I can see the potential if you had a giant man-ape robot too. Something like this, but much fiercer looking.

Will these dolls clean the house, do dishes, and laundry too?
If so, creepy or not, I'm investing!
Edit:
DAMMITALL they're just dolls, not robots!
And yeah they look really plastic-y.

Give it another 50 years and they just might.
