The Next Sourcebook?

Nyarlathotep

Mongoose
Khitai, Cimmeria. Where do you think Mongoose should set its agenda next?

There's been a lot written on the Pictish wilderness, Aquilonia, Stygia, the Black Kingdoms, etc. And it would be rather useless to focus on places a small as the kingdoms surrounding Koth.

The only viable places seem to be Turan and Vendhya. One's essentially an empire that covers much of the Earth and the other draws off the real-world cultural nexus of India - which means its probably got a lot of ideas to tap.

Thoughts? Ideas? Alternative locations?

Turan/Hyrkania and Vendhya both make lots of sense; we would have vastly preferred Vendhya over Khitai and it seems crazy how little material there is for T/H, even things like adventures set there.

Other places that intrigue me for some reason or another - Border Kingdoms/Hyperborea, more detail on Zamora, the low recognition Hyborian states like Corinthia and Ophir, the Black Kingdoms which I don't see having been given that much treatment yet. Could also make stuff up about islands in the various oceans, but I can see where that's a different kettle of fish.

Not terribly interested in Nordheim, possibly because we already used it, possibly because it seems too familiar, possibly because it doesn't flow into other lands all that well.

Well, i think the Border Kingdoms is going to remain undefined. Its essentially the place you can stick a Lovecraftian style adventure in - or any other dark/depressing moody situation - ergo the equivalent of a big blank space with "Stick adventure here."

Hyperborea will be hard, especially since there's kind of 2 trends on defining what Hyperborea is. Its either "Place of Fearsome Magic" or "Place where Hyborians live in with Pre-Medieval technology."

Zamora might be hit on the back-burner due to the effort put into Shadizar.

Vendhya. Turan, Black Kingdoms. All just shout Adventure!

Nemedia as a civilized kingdom. Greatly different from Aquilonia is appealing.

Koth, with it's mixed culture too.

The Himelian areas would be interesting.

Turan is one of the largest and most influential nations of the hyborian age. It's a pity they don't have a sourcebook yet. For me, it should be a priority.

Maybe a sourcebook on the non Aquilonian hyborian kingdoms would be enough, provided it's fat enough.

Vendhya and the Black Kingdoms would be cool too, even if Return to the Road of Kings proposed new background material on the Black Kingdoms.

Hyperborea and Zamora would also benefit from more coverage.

I still vote for Zamora. It's a classic R.E. Howard region that needs a good source book. We have smatterings of info about Zamora stretched across various books and adventures, but since second edition has come out there really hasn't been anything.

1. Zamora-I love Shadizar and its just a great setting. :o
2. Koth, Kauran & Khoraja-Would make an excellent sourcebook.
3. Turan-Nuff said! 8)

Hmmm sourcebooks:
Logic would dictate Turan since it is so large and influential and a great crossroads of humanity for both east and west.
The proto-Turkish/ Ottoman Empire /constantinople feel of the realm is really cool.
A great mix of land and naval opportunities abound.

I always like the Nordheim/ Hyperborea region, but the previous comment about it being outof the way and not leading to common travel is somewhat correct.

The trouble with a Pre-Hyborian age sourcebook is surely it would no longer be Conan?
I vote for a Turan/Zamora sourcebook, one that hopefully would define the border area where so many Conan adventures take place.
Cheers. :)
