The Harrier’s armory

Annatar Giftbringer

Emperor Mongoose
Greetings,
I’m just curious to hear what the various Pirates of Drinax groups might have in the armory of their Harrier.

For instance, the Harrier booklet contains a selection of Sindalian weaponry, does anyone use them?

Armour-wise, are the players given access to boarding vacc suit or even combat armour, or do they need to earn them during the campaign?

My players used one of the boarding guns to cut a hole in the Janal Torsk, Ferrik Redthane's far trader. I suspect they'll use it again. The pistols and swords are cool, but the players are pretty attached to their gauss rifles and gauss pistols instead. We also have an ex-marine who acquired battledress and a PGMP some time ago, so they don't have much of a need for the weapons that came with the ship.

Of late, the armory has been stocked with concentrated tranq gas, and some explosives that they're using for shaped charges and combining with a sort of a high-tech solder to seal and block doors and airlocks, and other gear that they want to use for non-lethal piracy actions. This group is trying its best to minimize how much killing they do, which I appreciate from a roleplaying standpoint. Unless you're playing a bunch of psychopaths, I see most people (even space corsairs) trying to avoid massive bloodshed.

The mention of swords and Battle Dress in the same paragraph inspires an idea for a piece of equipment: a suit of powered armor that emphasizes the strength amplification instead of the armor -- kind of the inverse of Combat Armor, which is really tough armor but no strength amplification.

So how about something that is as tough as Cloth, can be used as a vacc suit, has the same strength amplification as Battle Dress? The hook is that it isn't treated as military equipment because it's marketed as a heavy lift work suit instead of armor. That way you can buy it on pretense that you're going to use it for construction in vacuum or unbreathable atmosphere, even if you really want to use it to get nasty with a sword.

Canvas covered exoskeleton.

Even civilian ones are likely to be armoured, considering OSHA, and the likely roles and work conditions they would be used in.

In one of the later Pirates adventures, Lord Wrax presents the travelers with a gift/bribe of a suit of battledress. I forget the exac circumstances. Seems like something they may not need unless its early in the campaign.

For better or worse, if you have decent relations with the Pirate Lords and can therefore go shopping at Theev, you're going to be armed and armored to the teeth.

Corrected.
But Lord Wrax offers the best gift/bribe, in my opinion.
