with the way talents are now structured,

do you need to have all the previous talents in a given 'tree' to get a given talent

for example

talent tree - connected

talent 1 - fixer - do i need to take this talent in order to take the next talent (wealthy)?

Yes, you do. That isn't entirely clear from the rules, but it is the case.

(Previous versions of the rules didn't have the tree, just earlier talents as prerequisites.)
