Tachyon Weapon Scaling

I think this deserved it's own thread...

I want to use Particle Barbette, Small Bay, Medium Bay, Large Bay as the Gold Standard, because they're really well balanced here:

The above is a classical well balanced approach, as you increase damage, you have diminishing returns to make up for the added bonus of doing a single big hit, affected less by armour.

Now we investigate Tachyon progression:

Avg DMG: 17---------->32.5-------->41---------->53
Max DMG: 22---------->45--------->56---------->73
% Increase: NA--------->105%------>24%-------->30%
DMG / PWR: 1.42-------->2.71---------->2.05------->0.53


Findings:

a) Tachyon damage scaling, is definitely off. The first jump is Huge, and the other jumps seem out of order.
b) Tachyon is super power efficient, but that is fine. That is a massive benefit, but can be counteracted by the particle beam's long range.
c) Tachyon defenses only dont appear in OTU and a whole two tech levels AFTER Tachyon cannons. Thats like saying Armour wont be available until 2 TLs after particle guns...
d) Typo/defect in the power consumption of small-bay and above. Small bay takes as much power barbette.


Fix Steps (rather straightforward):
a) Tachyon Barbette is perfect.
b) Do not scale AP on Tachyon weapons - Pin it at 10AP for all the Tachyon weapons. 10 AP in space scale is literally 100 AP in ground/vehicle scale. Most craft wont have 10 AP, and even TL15 battleships will be losing 2/3rds of their protection. I think the clear benefit of Tachyon will be much better avg damage against armoured targets and waaay better power consumption! (as in massive tonnage saved)
c) Reduce Tachyon damage by 1D at the small bay level only - which is the crazy one :)
d) Increase power consumption at Tachyon smal and medium bay levels, (to perhaps 20 and 30, keeping them in line with the particle increases)


Result:

PS - We should drop Lg. Fusion and Lg. Particle bay power by like 20% or so. It's a little monstrous :)
