'Cheers' is a much friendlier way of saying 'thank you' which is more formal.

The thing is that's how they teach us to speak and write in schools . So for us that's not a mistake . Thank you is a polite anwser . Cheer an informal one ,that you don't use to someone you don't know personaly.Cheers' is a much friendlier way of saying 'thank you' which is more formal.
