What size table are the historical & other scenarios in the book meant to be played on? I'm probably just turning blind in my old age but I couldn't find any reference to table size.

I believe the concensus is a table area 4'x6' in size. I hope that helps. If you look at the battle reports in the free download issues of Mongoose's Signs & Portents e-magazine, 4x6 seems to be the norm across the spectrum of their games.
