When reading the title of this thread, I keep thinking first about short aliens with big lips and eyes, one f whom flies with Calrissian aboard the Falcon during the assault on the 2nd Death Star...

Well at the time it struck me as rather a 'ha hes new, and therefore wrong' reply especially when the book basically says hes right....

once again

Historically escort destroyers were destroyers which carried out escort duties as opposed to "destroyers of escorts", so I can see why somebody would think it might be a mistake

what in that says the guy is wrong? It says the opposite. You just can't apologise for making baseless accusations I see....

Well EP lets just say my impression was somewhat coloured by your (and I should emphasise that Im refering to some of the regulars (for some reason particularly the established Centauri regulars) not just you specifically) attitude at some times in the past when people have disagreed with you... in any case ithe original comment in this thread was not meant in any serious way and was certainly not intended as a personal accusation, and I DO appologise if it was taken as such.... sheesh! just let tiny little comments slide!

Anyway, back on topic, I do keep having to correct my spelling everytime I type 'Sulust' as I keep having to fight the urge to use two Ls. And that is an amusing picture ;) Looks rather uncomfortable though....

In fact looking back through that thread again Im not even sure it was your comment I was refering to in the first place! Like I said in the original post in this thread it was something of a vague recollection and may well have been several posts muzzsed together in my memory!

Regards,

Given that fanny means something else down here the liati might be closer to the mark.

Even if it doesn't mean it, it does a good job at destroying escorts.

In a campaign, a Centauri force of 2 Primus Cruisers and 4 Sulusts, plus a Corvan scout, met a Brakiri force of 10 Ikortas, 6 Brikortas, 2 Aviokis, 2 Brokados and 4 Halik Frigates.

We knew our Centauri ships were probably going to be scrap, but needed to damage to Brakiri enough to force them to halt their invasion (we have our own campaign system, and the Centauri were 8 turns away from starting mass production of the Vorchan after early in the campaign failing to build the appropriate shipyards).

The Sulusts managed to destroy 2 Ikortas, all the Brikortas, a Halik and a Brokados themselves, allowing the Primus's to engage the Avioki's and crush them. In the end, the Centauri were destroyed (except the scout), but only one Avioki, 2 Ikortas and a Halik remained.

The Sulusts were able to use their forward firepower to sweep away any thread to the Primus's while also distracting a large part of the enemy force.

I've said it before, I will say it again.

why should a fictional alien race from several hundred years in the future give a rats arse about current and historical naming conventions? really folks!
