With depth charges only having 3" a range (measuring from the bridge) and a rear firing arc only, I'm finding it very difficult to line up an attack on a sub with my US destroyers. Most subs are agile and have a turning score of 3 so it is very easy to manuver out of the firing range and arc of a destroyers depth charges.
