The computer may be on the economy efficiency mode.

Engines tend to be serviced on actual flights hours.

I would have thought that would be asteroid belts.

Yes. But the starport is located on one of them, or is a station. It's port authority stuff and common sense that they wouldn't like ships jumping in too close, even if they are able to.

As far as working on a J-Drive in J-Space... ehhh. I tend to think it's doing SOMETHING, but YTU.

I'm also generally of the viewpoint that there is some stuff that HAS to be done in port, for all ship maintenance. Not a lot, so it isn't usually tracked, but some.

You already have an asteroid, so turning it into a space station is relatively cheap.
